Welcome to Castle Mound Montessori School

We offer several programs for each age group with flexibility in mind to meet the needs of each family seeking child care, daycare, or preschool programs.

We offer year-round programs for infants, toddlers, primary (including preschool & kindergarten), and elementary age children.  Our beautiful classrooms and caring staff will nurture your child’s joy in learning and give you the security and peace of mind in knowing that your child is in the best possible environment in which to thrive and explore their true potential.  Our school features an indoor gymnasium, computer lab, music room, library, and covered play areas.

Castle Mound Montessori School serves the Flower Mound community and surrounding areas including Argyle, Bartonville, Lantana, Coppell, Lewisville, Highland Village, Trophy Club, Little Elm, Double Oak, and Bridlewood.

Curriculum Overview

Our curriculum consists of a carefully prepared, fun, and loving environment that encourages all the children to learn individually at their own pace. We have a dynamic learning environment with a wealth of concrete, manipulative learning materials that encourage children to discover and learn during these crucial early childhood years. Montessori teachers are trained to observe each child and to put them in touch with things they are most interested in learning; the results are joy, immense satisfaction, and excitement about learning.

Our Programs

  • Infants (6 weeks – 18 months) – Our infant environments embody Maria Montessori’s vision of a “Nido” or nest; they are peaceful, loving places where babies can explore and feel secure. All the teachers speak in gentle tones, the daily pace is unhurried, and décor is understated and homelike. Each child in our care is an individual to be nurtured with affection and respect. As is customary for Montessori environments, every detail is selected with the child’s whole development in mind.
  • Toddlers (18 months – 3 years) -Our toddler program focuses on a period of a child’s development and growth. During this stage, children develop 80% of their personality, enhance their mobility, improve their gross and fine motor skills, as well as learn they are separate individuals yet a vital part of a community. It is a critical time of development for a child. Working with the children’s natural tendencies shows them respect for their childhood, and encourages them to enjoy learning. Our teachers take great care in providing a nurturing, safe, and comfortable atmosphere, while at the same time igniting the child’s natural curiosity in the many materials and activities offered in the classroom. Children are not required to be potty-trained to enter this program.
  • Primary (3 – 6 years) -Our primary program offers an authentic, high-quality Montessori education that meets the needs of each child in Flower Mound by offering them opportunities for optimal development. Our primary classrooms offer a rich, engaging experience where children can joyfully explore with freedom and confidence as they master each new skill. Our environments are prepared with a focus on fostering discovery and a love of learning within a framework of developmentally appropriate activities or ‘works’.This framework presents the entire scheme of the curriculum to the child in a hands-on, dynamic, and carefully sequenced format. The child spontaneously chooses his or her own work and repeats it over and over to gain mastery. Our program offers a curriculum that is individually paced to meet each child’s needs. Our classrooms offer a mixed-age range from three to six years where the younger ones learn from the older ones. This provides opportunities for leadership, cooperation, and a sense of community.
  • Elementary (6 – 9 years) – At Castle Montessori Schools, our elementary program allows school-age children to work in small groups on projects that are intellectually challenging through the expert guidance of a trained teacher and an environment that supports the growing needs of the children through their developmental stages. Elementary school studies include geography, biology, history, language, mathematics, music, and arts. Our curriculum includes outdoor trips to community places such as the library, botanical garden, factories, hospitals, and science museums. The essential goal of a Montessori education at the elementary level is to provide an opportunity for the child where he or she can follow his or her natural development to the highest potential.

Our Team

Megan Thomas

Megan Thomas

School Director

I began working at Castle Montessori in 2007 as an assistant teacher in a primary classroom. After two years in the classroom, I moved into the office assistant position. As much as I loved being in the classroom, I truly enjoyed the opportunity to get to know all of the students and families that were part of the Castle school. Two years after moving to the front desk, I was promoted to the Site Director position. Since 2011 I have served as a School Director and a floating Director, helping to train and fill in for other directors across the 5 Castle schools. I came to Castle Mound Montessori in December of 2022 and have truly loved being with this wonderful group of staff and families. I like that early childhood education helps to lay the foundation for children’s future learning and success. I like that as educators, we are able to help foster a love of learning and create those educational building blocks that will be used for years to come.

Unity Nicastro

Unity Nicastro

Assistant Director

I’ve been with the school for five years, and during that time, I’ve grown both personally and professionally starting as an assistant teacher in the classroom before moving into a management role. I’ve continued to grow in my role and deepen my commitment to supporting our students, families, and staff. I have worked in early education for a total of 7 years and homeschooled for a period of time as well. These experiences, combined with my time at Castle Mound, have shaped my approach as an educator and leader—one rooted in empathy, respect, and the belief that every child has immense potential. Working with children has always been my passion, and I truly value the Montessori philosophy—it’s one of the many reasons I enrolled my own son here when he was just eight weeks old. I love being part of a school community that honors each child’s unique journey. Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my four-year-old son, cheering him on at baseball games and staying active in his many extracurricular activities. I also love attending concerts, exploring new music, catching up on shows and movies.

We truly don’t know what we would do without this daycare and the amazing staff here!!! They have become such an important part of our family’s day-to-day life, and it brings so much peace of mind knowing our children are surrounded by people who genuinely care for them. Every staff member we’ve interacted with has been kind, caring, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive. No matter what situation comes our way, they are always willing to listen, offer guidance, and help however they can. They’ve created such a warm and welcoming environment where we’ve always felt comfortable asking questions or bringing up concerns without hesitation. It’s so clear how much love and attention they pour into the children every single day, and we are endlessly grateful for the care and support they’ve given our family.

My daughter has been going here for about 2 years now and she loves it! She has been in the screeching owls class with Ms Sonali the whole time-whom is amazing and she has had 2 or 3 assistant teachers that have been amazing as well! Ms Sonali goes above and beyond for all her students and they all know how much she loves them. She also cares about each ones development and making sure they all get tine with her to continue growing. I also talk to her every day when I drop my daughter off and have become friends with her as well! Megan and Unity are great managers and easy to talk to as well. Only complaints I have about the school are minimal. Now it is time for her to graduate and head to kindergarten-public school.

Ms.Rinki is an amazing teacher—always kind, patient, and supportive. At first, my daughter cried every morning because everything was new to her, but Ms.Rinki was always warm, patient, and supportive. Now she enjoys going to school every day. She will soon be saying goodbye to some close friends, and Ms.Rinki has been very considerate and has supported her so she doesn’t feel too sad. Ms.Nazima is also always warm, patient, and welcoming, and she often shares updates about my daughter’s daily life at school. With the support of both teachers, my daughter has grown so much both emotionally and academically.
