How We Support Your Pre-K Child’s Development
Experiences during your child’s first three years of life are pivotal to his or her physical, intellectual, and socio-emotional growth. In fact, 82% of the brain develops during this time. Thinking & Learning (Cognitive)
At this age, children are developing a firmer grasp of logic and language. They can reason, compare, predict, and begin to understand cause and effect.
Our curriculum meets that growth with creative, theme-based activities that build critical thinking and problem-solving skills alongside foundational academic content: literacy, math, science, and social studies.
Feelings & Readiness (Socio-Emotional)
Kindergarten requires children to manage themselves. Their emotions, their behavior, their relationships with peers and new teachers while in a setting that’s more demanding than anything they’ve experienced before. Our program builds that capacity explicitly and gently.
Through our Kind Child Culture™ and daily opportunities to collaborate, resolve conflicts, and express feelings verbally, children develop the social-emotional fluency that makes everything else- learning, friendships, classroom success- more possible.
Moving & Building (Physical)
Four- and five-year-olds are full of energy that needs purposeful direction. Building, dancing, painting, and active outdoor play develop the gross and fine motor skills, including pencil grip and hand control, that children need for writing in kindergarten.
Coordination and concentration are also strengthened through physical activity, supporting focus in academic settings.

Ascend Curriculum: Sequentially designed, teacher-guided instruction across all 9 learning domains. Skills build on each other week by week, month by month. Offered at most Cadence Education schools. Ask your School Director about your local school curriculum.
Literacy & Print Awareness: Interactive activities build phonological awareness, print awareness, letter knowledge, and early writing. Our teachers make sight words visible, engaging, and memorable.
Math in Action: Hands-on counting, sorting, measuring, and pattern work build the number sense and operations skills needed for kindergarten and beyond.
Vocabulary-Rich Conversation: Structured and informal dialogue throughout the day builds the oral vocabulary that research identifies as the foundation of reading success.
Kind Child Culture™: Empathy, cooperation, and emotional regulation practiced daily — in conflicts, transitions, and celebrations alike.
Growing Up Fit: Daily physical activity, interactive fitness exercises, and cooking projects build healthy habits and the motor skills needed for writing readiness.
Multi-Day Investigations: Sustained inquiry investigations build focus, persistence, creative thinking, and the ability to work toward a goal — skills kindergarten teachers immediately notice.
Learning Spanish: Immersive Spanish practice through cooking, weather, make-believe, and daily routines. Children at this age absorb language naturally — we take full advantage of that window.
Technology & Computer Skills: Occasional, brief, age-appropriate computer activities build digital literacy alongside cognitive and fine motor development.
Kindergarten Club: An optional, dedicated transition program that helps children feel emotionally and academically ready for their first days of kindergarten — and excited for it.

Through activities and lessons that mirror the rhythms of a kindergarten classroom, children practice the social, emotional, and academic skills they’ll need from day one: following multi-step directions, working in groups, managing transitions, and sustaining focused attention.
