About Our School

Cadence Academy Preschool, Greenboro has proudly served 1000s of families in Greensboro since we opened our doors in 2000. Previously known as Village Kids Child Care Center, we changed our name in November 2019 as part of our school’s ongoing commitment to providing our families the best preschool programming possible. We offer child care services for ages 6 weeks – 12 years old in a warm and nurturing preschool environment that prepares young minds for future academic success! And, as elementary schools are altering schedules, we are here to serve your needs and the needs of your school-aged children with enhanced programs to help with virtual learning sessions and more. We also participate in the Guilford County Pre-K program allowing eligible children to receive a quality Pre-K education free of charge. Click HERE to learn more about this program.

Ascend CurriculumAscend Curriculum Logo

Our teachers focus on age-appropriate practices that gently guide children through each stage of development. We want to make the most of your child’s first educational experiences, which is why we utilize a skill-based approach that balances social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.

The flexibility built into our Ascend Curriculum allows us to create personalized learning experiences for each child in our care. Our preschool teachers are encouraged to modify activities to fit the interests, learning style, and current skill level of each student so that these educational experiences are engaging and fun! Important skills are taught within every program and fine-tuned just before kindergarten in Kindergarten Club.

Kind Child

Kind Child Program LogoKind Child is a wonderful program that helps us nurture a set of social skills that will serve your child for a lifetime. We focus on Kind Child skills as a core part of our Ascend Curriculum every month and introduce a character trait like a Positive Self-Image, Respect, Thankfulness, and Responsibility every two months. The goal of Kind Child is to elevate the emotional well-being of every child and encourage positive friendships all over our preschool!

Enrichment Activities

Cadence Academy Greensboro regularly invites leading providers in the Greensboro community to engage our students in additional enrichment activities. Although many of these activities are already explored in our classrooms, this is a great way to get your child access to expert instruction when they show interest in a specific discipline. Some of the enrichment activities we are offer are: Tumble with Care, Spanish, ExtravaDance, Computer Explorers, Little Hoopers, Kinder Kixx Soccer, Musicare, and JumpBunch.

School-Age Program

Cadence Academy Greensboro has a fully equipped After School classroom that elementary students love. They take advantage of the quiet area to complete homework and enjoy our large activity areas when it’s time for play, activities, and socializing. We also offer a full day program for elementary students during summer and other school breaks.

Our After School program provides transportation for students at six local elementary schools. We currently offer after care pick-up at Colfax Elementary School in Colfax, Oak Ridge Elementary School in Oak Ridge, and Pierce Elementary School, General Greene Elementary School, Claxton Elementary School, and Cornerstone Charter Academy in Greensboro, NC. And, as elementary schools are altering schedules, we are here to serve your needs and the needs of your school-aged children with enhanced programs to help with virtual learning sessions and more.

My son attended the NC-Prek program at Cadence Academy. One of the main reasons I picked this school is because it doesn't smell like urine and cheerios like every other center I visited. It doesn't feel chaotic and unorganized because of its size. Each classroom has an actual system that the kids can follow on their own. Really helps develop their confidence and sense of independence. I like how the school is kinda laid out like a grade school where they actually eat in a separate cafeteria and have different ages on different wings. Teachers and staff acknowledge you when you come into the building. They keep track of who is coming and going and email daily reports when your child leaves. They're great with the kids and really help them develop their social emotional skills. My son made some really good friends over the course of a year and loved his teachers! They communicate very very well and keep you updated with things you need to know for the week. I'm glad I chose Cadence Academy and would highly recommend!

My experience so far at Cadence is amazing. The staff treats my daughter so well and I mean ALL the staff! I was fearful of switching my daughter to a new childcare facility because I know she is not to good with big changes like that. Cadence really made it easy for me and her to feel welcomed and apart. I am really amazed at the things she is learning in her classroom! My daughter lights up every morning when we are pulling in (when she is not sleep) because she is so excited to be there. Anna, Sarah, and Dorothy are amazing at facilitating the whole building and keeping parents informed. They communicate with parents a lot and that is something us parents are appreciative for. Thank you guys for making us feel like family!

I truly can’t say enough great things about Cadence Academy. Our daughter, Lily is in the NC Pre-K program here with Ms Diana & Ms Sylvia who are hands-down THE best - you can tell they truly love the kids & their job and are great at it. Everyday Lily looks forward to coming to school to see her friends & teachers, saying hi to the front desk staff who greet her & other kids by name every morning & then stopping to say hi to the fish in the fish tank. Not only are the teachers & curriculum great but their food is wonderful as well, cooked right there in the kitchen on-site and healthy (menus are available at the front desk every week). We also love that Soccer Shots is offered there - we’ve done a session in the fall and starting another session in March which Lily’s been looking forward to. We've been extremely pleased with how Cadence has handled their COVID response and has worked to keep their teachers, students, and families safe. There are many things outside of their control but the things they have been able to control (i.e. communication to families) has been wonderful. Ms. Anna is always quick to respond to emails and answer questions. I can always count on someone answering the phone, I'm always so amazed at how the staff know every family member and their care for the children shows in everything they do. We’re sad that they don’t have afterschool pickup from Summerfield Elementary but it is WELL worth the 20 minute drive for Pre-K - I’m so grateful to have kicked off her love for learning & academic career here at Cadence!

My daughter is almost 6 years old and has been attending Cadence Academy Preschool (previously named Village Kids, but still the exact same place and owners) since she was 6 weeks old when I had to return to work. Trusting someone/someplace to not just watch, but truly care for and teach your child is extremely difficult, but I feel that my husband and I made the best decision. While I have always loved this place, it has become even better under the director, Anna Hartgrove. Every decision the team makes is not taken lightly, so when they have to make a decision such as closing a room for the day, unable to pick up the school-age children from school, closing the school itself for the day (or of course during the highest part of the pandemic), you can be assured that they have taken every possibility into account and have to make a decision that is best for the care and safety of the children AND the staff. They communicate very well with us and are very open to feedback if we feel like something isn't working right with the system. While I would have loved to have been able to stay home with my kid until Kindergarten, that wasn't possible. I am extremely happy that this is the place my kid was able to spend her days while we work. I love Cadence!
