Watermelon Seed Art Project

Encourage your children to create their own watermelon slice just in time for summer! Cut a paper plate in half and have your child draw/create seeds to glue onto their watermelon.

  • Paper Plates
  • Construction Paper
  • Markers
  • Crayons
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Age-appropriate Adaptations:

  • Two-year-olds—Have your child color, decorate their “watermelon” with crayons, and glue on precut seeds.
  • Three-year-olds—With adult supervision use, scissors to cut out circles (seeds) to glue on their watermelon and have them count how many seeds their watermelon has when complete.
  • Four-/Five-year-olds—With adult supervision, your child can cut out their own paper plate watermelon and seeds. For an extra challenge give them a number 1-20 and have them create and attach that many seeds to their watermelon.
