Curriculum Overview

Our curriculum consists of a carefully prepared, fun, and loving environment that encourages children to learn individually at their own pace. We have a dynamic learning environment with a wealth of concrete, manipulative learning materials that encourage the child to discover and learn during these crucial early childhood years. All the teachers are trained to observe each child and to put them in touch with things they are most interested in learning; the results are joy, immense satisfaction, and excitement about learning. Our teachers are highly trained in Montessori principles and provide top-notch early education to the children in their care.

Our Programs

  • Infants (6 weeks – 18 months) – Our infant environments embody Maria Montessori’s vision of a “Nido” or nest; they are peaceful, loving places where babies can explore and feel secure. Teachers speak in gentle tones, the daily pace is unhurried, and décor is understated and homelike. Each child in our care is an individual to be nurtured with affection and respect. As is customary for Montessori environments, every detail is selected with the child’s whole development in mind.
  • Toddlers (18 months – 3 years) – Our toddler program focuses on a period of tremendous development and growth. During this stage, children develop 80% of their personality, enhance their mobility, improve their gross and fine motor skills, as well as learn they are separate individuals yet a vital part of a community. It is a critical time of development for a child. Working with the children’s natural tendencies shows them respect for their childhood and encourages them to enjoy learning. Our teachers take great care in providing a nurturing, safe, and comfortable atmosphere, while at the same time igniting the child’s natural curiosity in the many materials and activities offered in the classroom. Teachers also work to foster a child’s daily routines with hands-on activities that help improve their motor skills. Children are not required to be potty-trained to enter this program.
  • Primary (3 – 6 years) – Our primary program offers an authentic, high-quality Montessori education that meets the needs of each child by offering them opportunities for optimal development. Our primary classrooms offer a rich, engaging experience where the child can joyfully explore with freedom and confidence as they master each new skill. Our environments are prepared with a focus on fostering discovery and a love of learning within a framework of developmentally appropriate activities or ‘works’.  This framework presents the entire scheme of the curriculum to preschoolers in a hands-on, dynamic, and carefully sequenced format. The child spontaneously chooses his or her own work and repeats it over and over to gain mastery. Our program offers a curriculum that is individually paced to meet each child where their needs are. Our classrooms offer a mixed-age range from three to six years where the younger ones learn from the older ones. This provides opportunities for leadership, cooperation, and a sense of community.
  • Elementary (6 – 9 years) – At Castle Montessori Schools, our elementary program allows the children to work in small groups on projects that are intellectually challenging through the expert guidance of a trained teacher and an environment that supports the growing needs of the children through their developmental stages. Elementary studies include geography, biology, history, language, mathematics, music, and arts. Our curriculum includes outdoor trips to community places such as the library, botanical garden, factories, hospitals, and science museums. The essential goal of a Montessori education at the elementary level is to provide an opportunity for students to follow their natural development to the highest potential. At Castle Montessori of Plano, each child receives an education that promotes bright horizons and a lifelong love of learning.

The Importance of Early Childhood Education

Early childhood education is crucial as it lays the foundation for lifelong learning, behavior, and health. The importance of early childhood education can be understood through various dimensions:

Cognitive Development

During the early years, a child’s brain develops rapidly, making it a critical period for cognitive growth. Quality early childhood education programs stimulate children’s minds through structured activities, play, and interaction, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and language skills.

Social and Emotional Growth

Early childhood education provides children with the first opportunities to interact with peers in a structured setting. This helps them develop social skills such as sharing, empathy, and cooperation. Additionally, supportive early education environments help children build self-esteem and emotional regulation.

Academic Success

Studies have shown that children who participate in high-quality early childhood education programs are more likely to succeed academically. They enter school with better reading, math, and social skills, which can lead to higher academic achievement and reduced need for special education services later on.

Lifelong Benefits

The benefits of early childhood education extend beyond academic success. Children who attend quality early childhood education programs are more likely to graduate from high school, attend college, and secure well-paying jobs. They also tend to have better health outcomes and are less likely to engage in criminal behavior as adults.

Supporting Families

Early childhood education also supports working families by providing safe and nurturing environments for children while parents work. This can reduce stress for parents, improve family dynamics, and contribute to overall family well-being.

We love the teachers at this school! They are so experienced and their passion to teach really shows. My daughter has had Ms Monica, Ms Nelly, and Ms Alisa as teachers. She absolutely adores each of them. My daughter has learned to do multiplication and division in ms Nelly and ms Monica’s class and she’s only 5! I love that the teachers challenged our daughter with firmness but also compassion. They’ve really helped her reach her full potential.

My son has been going here for 4 years and is finally graduating to Kindergarten this month. It's one of the few actual proper school-like campuses, with a giant indoor gym and an outdoor playground so kids can stay active all seasons long — a stark contrast to the smaller strip-mall childcare options around the area. Building aside, it's the teachers and staff who make this school great. Teachers like Miss Nelly, who has been in this role for 20-plus years, and Miss Monica have been so amazing for my son. Their goal isn't just about taking care of the kids from morning to evening — to me, they genuinely care and are truly passionate about teaching the kids the material and guiding them on their behavior. Every day I drop my son off, I can see the effort Miss Nelly and Miss Monica put in, bending down and working with the kids on their study material. A big shout-out and Thank You to Miss Nelly, Miss Monica, and so many other teachers who have taken care of my son over the years. The school changed management a few years ago, but with Miss Hannah at the helm it has been wonderful. I have no words for the amount of effort they all put into the seasonal activities — especially the Christmas songs each class performs in December, the movie nights, the Trike-A-Thon, Halloween, Easter events, and the countless summer camp events like splash day and bubble bash, all of which my son looked forward to. Sadly, we're going to miss all this next year. But it has been an excellent place for our son these last 4 years. I definitely recommend Castle Montessori Plano to any parent looking for a new daycare.

My daughter has been with Castle Montessori since she was 3 months old. All of her teachers have been incredible including Ms Alex in Fawns, Ms Mary in Cottontails and now Ms Hend in RedFoxes. She is nurturing, caring, loving, and has such a wonderful high-energy personality that keeps the children engaged, entertained, and happy throughout the day. Since being in her class, our daughter’s vocabulary has exploded, her social skills have improved, and she seems to be learning something new every single day. We feel very lucky to have found such a great school with wonderful teachers that help our daughter grow, learn, and feel loved.

My son has attended this preschool for the past three years, and we couldn’t be happier with the choice we made. From day one, we’ve felt that he was in a warm, nurturing, and supportive environment where children are genuinely cared for and encouraged to thrive. What has impressed us most is how much the children learn while having fun. The curriculum goes far beyond the basics of letters and numbers. Through engaging, hands-on activities and direct interaction with their teachers, children are introduced to reading, geography, different cultures, and even advanced math concepts such as multiplication and division. The true treasures of this school are the teachers, especially Ms. Nelly and Ms. Monica. Their love for children, passion for teaching, and dedication are truly inspiring. They create a classroom environment where every child feels valued, supported, and motivated to grow. Teachers like Ms. Nelly and Ms. Monica as well as very friendly and supportive admin are the reason parents stay with this school and confidently enroll their younger children. We are deeply grateful for everything they have done and highly recommend this preschool to any family looking for an exceptional early childhood education experience.
