About Cadence Academy Preschool in Summerville, SC
Our preschool and daycare provides early education programs and child care for children ages six weeks through pre-kindergarten. Our amazing 10,000 square foot early childhood education center features nine custom-designed classrooms where children play and explore in unique discovery centers, each designed to ignite their curiosity and allowing them to learn as they play. And, as elementary schools are altering schedules, we are here to serve your needs and the needs of your school-aged children with enhanced programs to help with virtual learning sessions and more.
We also like to take advantage of the beautiful South Carolina weather each day, with lots of outdoor activities on our expansive, impressive playgrounds.
Early Childhood Education Programs Offered
- Infant Daycare (ages 6 weeks to 1 year). Our nurturing caregivers provide constant attention and love to all little ones left at our daycare center.
- Toddler Daycare (ages 1 to 2). Under the supervision of our nurturing staff, toddlers learn new socialization and communication techniques, boost creativity, and much more.
- Early Learners (ages 2 to 3). Our Early Learning program immerses your child in a variety of playful, educational activities.
- Preschool (ages 3 to 4). In this preschool program, students engage in fun, hands-on learning activities and learn to socialize harmoniously with their peers.
- Pre-Kindergarten (ages 4 to 5). This Pre-K program supports the development of academic skills, preparing them for Kindergarten.
- School-Age Program (ages 5 to 12). Our After School Care program makes education, social skills, and safety a major priority for kids.
- Summer Camp Programs (ages 5 to 12). We equip children in our summer program with the tools they need to expand their academic potential and lead meaningful, enjoyable lives.
Cadence KickStart™ Soccer
Big Fun. Little Players. Growing Confidence.
Cadence KickStart™ Soccer is a high-energy enrichment program designed to build confidence, coordination, and teamwork through fun, age-appropriate soccer play. Led by the teachers your child already knows and trusts, it’s seamlessly built into the school day.
Program Highlights:
- Designed for ages 3–5
- 12-week program (once per week)
- 40–50 minute sessions
- Builds balance, coordination, and motor skills
- Encourages listening, teamwork, and confidence
- No prior soccer experience needed
- Integrated into your child’s daily schedule

Our Philosophy
Our proprietary curriculum, the Ascend Curriculum, was created based on the philosophy that the most impactful way to support the development of academic skills is to give children some control over their own learning process. The Ascend Curriculum uses a “Whole Child” approach that ensures each child is supported, engaged, challenged, and having fun.

Since 1999, we have provided quality child care and after school programs to families in the Summerville area. We pride ourselves on our excellent staff and long-term commitment to serving our community, including the nearby neighborhoods of Good Creek, Ladson, and North Charleston.
We also serve the nearby elementary schools of Oakbrook, Ft. Dorchester, Joseph Pye, Summerville, Spann, Flowerton, and Dr. Eugene Sires. Our daycare is located at 1540 Old Trolley Road, at the intersection of Old Trolley Road and Dorchester Parkway.

School Director
Ms. Debbie has over 20 years’ experience in child care and has been the Director since 2001. She has her SC Director credentials and a true heart for children. She is married to Robert and they have one daughter together. In her spare time she enjoys reading, and spending time with her 5 brothers and sisters and their families.
Lisa Sweat
Assistant Director
My name is Lisa, and I have been with the company for 23 years. I hold an associate degree in Early Childhood Education and am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in the same field. Throughout my career, I’ve remained passionate about supporting children’s growth and development while building strong, trusting relationships with families and staff.
Outside of work, I’m a proud wife and mother. My family and I love spending time together exploring the children’s museum, enjoying days at the beach, and creating lasting memories. Fun fact—my favorite meal is steak and potatoes with a side salad!
I am honored to serve as Assistant Director and look forward to continuing to nurture a safe, enriching, and joyful environment for all the children in our care.
Gwendolyn Bell
Teacher of the Year
Ms. Gwen comes to Cadence Academy with over twenty years of experience in Early Childhood field and has her ECD 101 credential. She is married to a wonderful man., Marc; and they have four children together. Ms. Gwen is from Connecticut and is proud of it! She is a huge fan of NCAAW basketball. She enjoys spending her spare time with her family. Ms. Gwen’s favorite dish is a Japanese dish called Gyoza.

Lecolmae Ladson, one of our Preschool 3B teachers, has been with Cadence Academy since February 2005 and has received her ECD 101 credential. Ms. Lee is married and she and her husband have four children together.
