About Cadence Academy Preschool in Conshohocken
At Cadence Academy, we understand that choosing the best daycare or childcare facility for your child is one of the hardest decisions you have to make as a parent. We hope to make that decision a little easier.
As a member of the Cadence Education Family of Schools, Cadence Academy is one of the premier early childhood educators. We recently changed our name from Flanagan’s Preschool to Cadence Academy Preschool, Conshohocken as part of our school’s ongoing commitment to providing our children and families the very best preschool programming. We offer a safe, warm, and stimulating learning environment where children grow and thrive.
Childcare & Early Childhood Education Programs Offered
- Infant Childcare (6 weeks – 1 year). A daycare program designed to maintain the strong bonds, warmth and security your child enjoys at home with you.
- Toddler Childcare (1– 2 years). Our toddler daycare teachers strive to guide and encourage your child’s sense of discovery and learning.
- Early Learners (2 – 3 years). Our early learners program engages your child in countless activities focused on both education and social skills development.
- Preschool (3 – 4 years). A carefully designed preschool program focused on thoroughly preparing students for Pre-Kindergarten.
- Pre-Kindergarten (ages 4 to 5) – This Pre-K program combines the skills and experiences taught in previous years to prepare students for Kindergarten.
- School-Age Program (5 – 12 years). Your child will spend time with friends while engaging in activities designed to meet the educational needs of your growing child.
- Summer Camp (5 – 12 years). Our campers will experience the sights and sounds of America as we take them on a virtual tour of top attractions, events, and landmarks across the nation.
Cadence KickStart™ Soccer
Big Fun. Little Players. Growing Confidence.
Cadence KickStart™ Soccer is a high-energy enrichment program designed to build confidence, coordination, and teamwork through fun, age-appropriate soccer play. Led by the teachers your child already knows and trusts, it’s seamlessly built into the school day.
Program Highlights:
- Designed for ages 3–5
- 12-week program (once per week)
- 40–50 minute sessions
- Builds balance, coordination, and motor skills
- Encourages listening, teamwork, and confidence
- No prior soccer experience needed
- Integrated into your child’s daily schedule

Ellen Thomas
School Director
I started working for Cadence Academy in 1990. I received my associate degree in early childhood education. I have been in many roles – assistant teacher in our four-year-old class, lead teacher of our two-year class, assistant director and and now School Director. I cannot wait to see how bright our future will be at Cadence Academy. I married my high school sweetheart, Dave, in 1997. We have two children, Kerri & Shane and four, four-legged children, Minni, Jovi, Hazel (cats) and Buttercup (dog) and they are so incredibly loved (yes, Jovi is named after the rock band Bon Jovi!). In my spare time, I love hanging out at the swim club & vacationing in Ocean City, MD, where, one day, I hope to “retire”! I love making people laugh and I’m a practical joker who loves to scare people.
Casey Ruffin
Assistant Director
Casey Ruffin is a dedicated early childhood education professional with over a decade of experience supporting children and families. She began her career in 2010 as a Head Start Family Teacher with Orange County Public Schools, where she served until 2024. In 2024, she continued her passion for education by joining Cadence Academy Preschool, where she remains committed to creating a positive and nurturing learning environment. She earned a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in 2010, and has furthered her education by obtaining a credential in Family Development from Temple University Harrisonburg in 2013. She is also First Aid and CPR certified and have completed MAT training to support student safety, learning, and development.
Outside of her professional life, she is a proud mother of two children—a son and a daughter—who keep her very active and involved. She enjoys supporting them in their many activities, including football, cheerleading, competitive cheer, track, lacrosse, and wrestling. Her family also includes two dogs, who bring them lots of joy.

Teacher of the Year
I have been in education for over 10 years and have been working here since my college days at Villanova University. I took a brief hiatus when I was nurturing my own family and recently completed the LTP (Leadership Training Program) for Cadence Academy and I am learning more administration duties daily. I have four boys, Brandon, Dylan, Ryan & Gavin and a fiancé, John. I eventually returned to childcare when my boys were in school. My hobbies include reading fiction, my son’s baseball games, Villanova basketball & trying new restaurants. I love the beach and all things Florida where I spent nine years. I’d love to retire there someday.
