About Cadence Academy Preschool in Southaven, MS

Parent Involvement
Parents are invited and encouraged to be involved in their child’s activities. There are many different ways in which parents can participate and volunteer at our academies. Parents may volunteer to attend trips, read in the classroom, assist teachers, and/or coordinate special events. Our teachers also post any upcoming volunteer opportunities in their classrooms.
Before & After School Program
We offer a wonderful before and after school program for school-age children that keeps them busy with planned, age-appropriate activities. The Before & After Program is offered for children kindergarten age through 12-years-old on school days, and full-day programs are offered during school breaks.
We provide free transportation to and from the following elementary schools:
- DeSoto Central Elementary
- DeSoto Central Primary
- Pleasant Hill Elementary (After Care)
- Lewisburg Primary
- Lewisburg Elementary
Kind Child
Kind Child is beautiful program that helps children develop social skills and character. We focus on social-emotional skills every month and introduce a valuable character trait like Positive Self-Image, Responsibility, Thankfulness, and Empathy every two months. We want every student to feel at home every time they walk in our doors and Kind Child is the perfect way for us to elevate the emotional well-being of our students and enrich friendships.
Food For Thought
Cadence Academy Preschool lovingly provides a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks every day, which is included in the price of tuition. We encourage our children to try a variety of healthy foods from all the food groups through our Food For Thought program. We’re very picky about our menu and choose items that will help pave the way for a lifetime of good food choices.

Lauren Edwards
School Director
Lauren Edwards is the Director at Cadence Academy Preschool, where she leads with warmth, dedication, and a deep love for early childhood education. She holds an Associate’s Degree and Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and is completing her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Memphis. Since beginning her career in 2017, Lauren has grown through multiple leadership roles, driven by her passion for creating safe, joyful spaces where children can explore, learn, and thrive.
Families know Lauren for her caring nature and strong communication. She believes that teamwork and trust are the foundation of a successful school community. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé and two daughters, traveling, and relaxing with a good spa day.
Aisha Simelton
Teacher of the Year
I started in Early Education 10 years ago and have loved working with children ever since. I strive to make my classroom an enjoyable, safe place for the children in my care. I am often singing with my children, so you may hear our joyful noises when you enter the classroom. My family consists of myself and my two loving children. In my free time I love to spend time with my family and make memories. I love to shop, travel and explore new things. I like having a good time and smiling and laughing.
