Welcome to Sunbrook Academy at Luella in McDonough, Georgia. We are located just South of Atlanta in McDonough at 235 Walker Drive.
Selecting the right daycare or preschool can be one of the most important decisions you can make as a parent or caregiver. At Sunbrook Academy, we hope to make that decision a little easier.
Sunbrook Academy at Luella is an early childhood education academy for children ages six weeks to 12 years old. Since 2007, we have been offering a supportive, nurturing learning environment that provides children with a safe and fun learning experience.
Our various early childhood educational programs offer you peace of mind by providing an exceptional education and fun-filled day to children from caring professionals in a warm, nurturing environment as comfortable as home.
Our Preschool, Childcare & School-Age Programs
As part of the Cadence Education Family of Schools, Sunbrook Academy at Luella features a carefully developed curriculum designed to provide each student with the necessary skills and confidence for the next stage in their life.
Offering the Foundations™ curriculum, we raise the bar for early learning, challenging our students while encouraging them to express themselves creatively through the arts. Our preschool also features a media center and computer lab for our older preschoolers.
Preschool & Childcare Programs include:
Infant Childcare (6 weeks to 1 year) – A program designed to maintain the strong bonds, warmth and security your child enjoys at home with you.
Junior Toddlers (12 – 24 months) – Our toddler teachers strive to guide and encourage your child’s sense of discovery and learning.
Senior Toddlers (24 – 36 months) – With a low teacher-to-student ratio, this program allows the necessary time for positive interaction between teacher and child.
PreK 3 (3 to 4 years) – A pre-kindergarten program designed to challenge each student to reach ambitious milestones as they prepare to enter Kindergarten.
Private PreK 4 (4 to 5 years) – Considered the most important program offered at our school, this program helps prepare students for the transition to Kindergarten.
Georgia PreK 4 (4 to 5 years) – A lottery funded education program aimed at preparing students for Kindergarten.
Kindergarten Club (4 to 5 years) – Kindergarten Club is a fun program that helps our Pre-K students fine-tune the skills needed for kindergarten.
School-Age Program (PreK – 12 years) – Students are picked up from local schools to enjoy an afternoon of fun, learning and growth.
Summer Camp Programs (ages 6 to 12) – We’ll be taking our campers on a virtual tour of top attractions, events, and landmarks across the nation at our American Road Trip Summer Camp.

Safety & Security
Our preschool learning center has several measures in place to ensure a safe, secure learning environment.
We have a keypad door entry system, as well as a state-of-the-art thumbprint identification system to safeguard the process of checking your children in and out. We also have a closed-circuit camera recording system that allows us to monitor what is going on in our preschool classes throughout the day.
We had our daughter for about 5 months at Sunbrook Academy when we eventually decided to pull her out. We really wanted to like the school because of all the good reviews we had read. However, we found that there was a lack of communication from the school to us as parents. The kid report app always glitches and if you don’t ask the teacher for a report on your child sadly, one isn’t given. My daughters teacher was techy, so she would text me. However, there were times I would forget to ask, and it would be too late to text the teacher so there were times where I didn’t have a report for my daughter for the day. My daughter caught the stomach bug from the school but I wasn’t aware the stomach bug was going around. Finally, after getting my daughter medical attention I would call the school to let them know she got the bug, they would apologize that the bug got to her and they would apologize for not letting me know there was a bug going around. They even transitioned my daughter to another class. A class she was leveling up to without even calling me. I found out they had transitioned her while I was dropping her off one morning while having a casual conversation with another employee. I could continue to name examples of the lack of communication, but y’all get my point. I will say, the Ms. Kelly was very understanding and encouraging to speak with when I spoke about my concerns. However, it got to a point where I just didn’t felt comfortable dropping off my daughter any longer.

It was hard for me to write this review but with covid and everything else I don't know what happening to this school. What made me love sunbrook was the attention and the class size which other schools lacked. Which we would view some that was over crowded, communication and other factors.
Sunbrook was a affordable school but with almost ever season comes a extra $10 added to the tuition but if you have CAPS then it's nothing for you to worry about but if your paying out of pocket it's not eazy since that's $754 or more a month hoping we don't get another tuition raise for a extra $520 a year. Now reviews don't believe all you see it was a review contest that the best review gets credit towards their tuition but who won that? Did a out a parent they pays fully out of pocket or one that receives caps?
Now its covid it's no communication I don't know what's going on all we are doing is paying it's no information on what my kids are taking how is it going no parent teacher nights no text the kids report is being sent out once in a blue moon, Like I said this is what made Sunbrook different from other daycare schools. More unique and easy to understand why I'm paying so much. Now the parents that are paying out of pocket are starting to feel someway just cause they implemented for you to give a bank account to do a ach. We are not sure if it's cause of the new building that was built next door during covid but come on we already pay $9,500+ a year out of pocket with no support to even be treated anyway.
Now the covid issue . . . It's no way any 1 kid don't have contact with just 1 person or classmates and it's starting to get crazy when it comes to that, the room size and amount of kids per room. I was told it's 20 kids in 1 class which might be a room that's 18ft x 22ft.
The pickup set up is getting crazy cause parents are not respecting safety. It's covid stay in your cars and wait your turn stop cutting off cars to park infront a parked car that's in line. Cones should be implemented making it only 1 lane to prevent a kid from being ran over since some kids would run out if their parents lose track of them.
What here is that they would make your kid stay in school sick for the first day of the week and tell you the have to stay home for 3-4 days and you still have to pay for the week. Come on like I said if you have Caps then it's nothing to worry about but if your fully paying out of pocket it's something to think about.
I know I will get a generic we're sorry reply and a number to call or a bad attitude that we left this and maybe have to find a new school but this is something that has to be brought up.
But its nothing more positive that i can leave on this review only thing is is that my kid loves the supervisor Jennifer and her teachers but I don't know if they will even be there next year with all thes changes and if we will be continuing since it's starting to turn in to a school that we tried to avoid. But I don't think losing us will care since it will just be a extra one slot.
Thank you and parents just make sure you asking about your kids and reporting when they come home with clothes that belongs to another kid, sick all the time, with a full pamper. Don't be scared to ask questions.
