Welcome to Discovery Days Childcare in Muskego
Discovery Days offers a childcare program that focuses on the children and their individual needs. We follow the Wisconsin Model for Early Learning Standards which fosters social and academic learning. We take pride in the service we provide and look forward to making a difference in the life of your family!
Why Discovery Days Preschool is Your Best Choice
We have been providing quality early childhood education and care to families since 2000. We believe that a positive early childhood experience is crucial to a child’s development. Our programs are designed to help children learn at their own pace. Group activities are designed with the developmental needs of each age group in mind. A good deal of time is allotted for children to explore the various interest centers in their classroom.
Providing a program that fosters early educational learning, positive social interaction and working to achieve age appropriate milestones helps prepare our children for their future.
We provide a nurturing and socially stimulating environment for children according to their age and individuality. We believe childhood is the beginning of many life adventures, and we provide the care that makes the difference.
At Discovery Days we understand that children learn in a variety of ways. As much as they can learn within our walls, they’ll learn an equal amount through their personal experience outside of our walls, in the community.
The Ascend Curriculum
Our Ascend Curriculum develops academic, physical, emotional, and creative skills and features activities in subjects such as Cultural Understanding, Baby Signs, Literacy, Mathematics, and Technology. We find that children learn best when activities are geared towards their interests. Our teachers are encouraged to individualize activities and engage in small group instruction so they can better respond to the needs and interests of each child. Even the youngest children in the infants program can benefit from the Ascend Curriculum.

Karyn Skalla
School Director
Karyn Skalla serves as the School Director and brings many years of experience and passion to the early childhood field. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Alverno College and completed her Associate’s Degree at Waukesha County Technical College, where she had the opportunity to apply her learning in real classroom settings early in her career. Karyn began working in early childhood education as an assistant teacher while she was still a senior in high school, and her passion for supporting young learners has continued to grow ever since.
Throughout her career, Karyn has worked with children from infancy through school age and has served in a variety of roles across three child care centers. She also owned and operated her own in-home child care center while raising her two boys, giving her valuable experience both in the classroom and behind the scenes of early childhood programs. Karyn loves creating environments where children can explore, play independently, and build friendships with their peers while developing important skills during these foundational years. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, especially camping and hiking as they work toward their goal of visiting every state park in Wisconsin. She also enjoys reading whenever she can find a quiet moment, from romantic comedies to thrillers.

I’ve taught Early education for over 18 years and have been the 3K teacher here at Discovery days since October 2023. I believe in the capabilities of all learners and love to help them achieve those special moments when they discover they” can do it!” There is nothing quite as special as when a child gains the self-independence and self-confidence within themselves that sets them up as a lifetime learner. I am married with two children and in my free time I love to read, swim and camp. Every summer my family and I stay at a different state park.
