Welcome to Kids Connection Childcare, Rawson!
​Kids Connection offers a childcare program that focuses on the children and their individual needs. We follow the Wisconsin Model for Early Learning Standards which fosters social and academic learning. We take pride in the service we provide and look forward to making a difference in the life of your family!
Why Kids Connection Preschool
We have been providing quality early childhood education and care to families since 2000. We believe that a positive early childhood experience is crucial to a child’s development. Our programs are designed to help children learn at their own pace. Group activities are designed with the developmental needs of each age group in mind.
A good deal of time is allotted for children to explore the various interest centers in their classroom. Providing a program that fosters early educational learning, positive social interaction and working to achieve age appropriate milestones helps prepare our children for their future. We provide a nurturing and socially stimulating environment for children according to their age and individuality. We believe childhood is the beginning of many life adventures, and we provide the care that makes the difference.
At Kids Connection we understand that children learn in a variety of ways. As much as they can learn within our walls, they’ll learn an equal amount through their personal experience outside of our walls, in the community.
Ascend Curriculum
Thanks to the flexibility of our Ascend Curriculum, we take an individualized approach to early childhood education and encourage every child to progress towards age-appropriate goals at their natural pace. New skills are introduced sequentially in 9 different learning domains each month and activities are modified to fit the interests and current skill level of each child. This skill-based approach to early education ensures that every child feels engaged, supported, and challenged and makes learning fun!
Kind Child Program
Another significant part of our curriculum is our Kind Child program. Kind Child is a year-long program for children ages two and older that helps our teachers nurture and strengthen every child’s social and emotional skills. We have found that when we focus on the emotional well-being of each child in our care, we strengthen our school as well. We are confident that Kind Child will continue to strengthen the culture of our entire preschool center by elevating every child’s feelings of happiness, improving their well-being, and enriching their friendships.
Cadence KickStart™ Soccer
Big Fun. Little Players. Growing Confidence.
Cadence KickStart™ Soccer is a high-energy enrichment program designed to build confidence, coordination, and teamwork through fun, age-appropriate soccer play. Led by the teachers your child already knows and trusts, it’s seamlessly built into the school day.
Program Highlights:
Designed for ages 3–5
12-week program (once per week)
40–50 minute sessions
Builds balance, coordination, and motor skills
Encourages listening, teamwork, and confidence
Integrated into your child’s daily schedule

Kids Cafe Preschool Cooking Program
Cooking Up Confidence, One Recipe At A Time!
Kids Café is a hands-on cooking program where children explore new foods, build confidence, and develop essential life skills through fun, guided kitchen experiences.
Program Highlights:
- Designed for ages 3+
- Weekly sessions over a 12-week program
- Hands-on cooking activities and kid-friendly recipes
- Builds teamwork, sharing, and communication skills
- Encourages problem-solving and following directions
- Supports early math, literacy, and critical thinking

Katie Kooi
School Director
Hello! My name is Katie and I have been working with Cadence since August 2022. I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Sociology from UW-Eau Claire. I then went on to earn my Masters in Cultural Foundations of Education and Child Care Administration with a specialty in American Sign Language at UW-Milwaukee.
I have been working in the childcare field for the last ten years while finding my home as the School Director here at Kids Connection. I am passionate about exceptional education and building trusting partnerships with families that we serve. I strive to create a positive environment while bringing an upbeat energy into daily interactions. In my free time, I enjoy practicing photography skills, gardening, and spending time outdoors with my family.
Sophie Alvarado
Assistant Director
Sophie Alvarado is the Assistant Director at Kids Connection Childcare Center, bringing over five years of experience in early childhood education and a deep commitment to quality care to her role. She earned her degree in Early Childhood–Middle Childhood Education (Birth–11) from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse in June 2024 and immediately began her journey at Kids Connection as a Lead Infant Teacher. Sophie’s dedication and natural leadership quickly earned her the title of Mentor Teacher, and in May 2026 she was honored with the Teacher of the Year award — a recognition of her commitment to creating nurturing, engaging, and supportive environments for children. In September 2026, she took the next step in her career by accepting the Assistant Director position.
Sophie is a passionate advocate for exceptional early childhood education, believing that these foundational years set the stage for every child’s lifelong learning journey. She knows there are no do-overs when it comes to a child’s early education, and that belief drives everything she does. Outside of work, Sophie enjoys cooking, trying new recipes and restaurants, scrapbooking, journaling, and spending quality time with the people she loves.
