About Cadence Academy Preschool Yelm Highway
Welcome to Cadence Academy Preschool, Yelm Highway, a trusted daycare and preschool in Olympia, WA! Ascend Curriculum
Young children learn best when they are active and engaged! The Ascend Curriculum encourages preschool children to participate in a number of ways. As one teacher works closely with a small group of students, other students will be engaging in hands-on learning with peers at various learning centers throughout the classroom. This approach creates more personalized interactions between teachers and students and gives children space to take responsibility for their own learning.
Our teachers help our students develop new skills in 9 different learning domains every month. Skills are often taught at a challenging pace, but our teachers are encouraged to modify activities to match the needs and interests of each child. We want your child’s first educational experiences to supportive, challenging, and fun so they develop important skill sets and a love of learning!
Kind Child
Kind Child is a beautiful part of our monthly curriculum that focuses on the social and emotional needs of our children. We encourage our students to adopt valuable character traits 
like a Positive Self-Image, Responsibility, Empathy, and Thankfulness and work on new emotional skills every month. Our mission is to elevate the emotional well-being of every child in our care and promote positive friendships!
Kids Café Preschool Cooking Program
Cooking Up Confidence, One Recipe at a Time
Kids Café is a hands-on cooking program where children explore new foods, build confidence, and develop essential life skills through fun, guided kitchen experiences.
Program Highlights:
- Designed for ages 3+
- Weekly sessions over a 12-week program
- Hands-on cooking activities and kid-friendly recipes
- Builds teamwork, sharing, and communication skills
- Encourages problem-solving and following directions

Our Team
Morgan Whipple
School Director
Morgan Whipple is the School Director at Cadence Academy Preschool Yelm Highway in Olympia, WA. She moved to Washington in 2021 from Florida, and previously lived in South Korea in 2020, where she taught English to children. Morgan has worked with children for ten years, beginning her career in an elementary school in her hometown, where she spent five years before continuing her journey abroad and later at Cadence Academy Preschool for the rest.
She joined Cadence Academy in 2021 as a 5-year-old Lead Teacher in the Pre-Kindergarten (Senior Pre-K) classroom, where she worked for four years before stepping into an Assistant Director role and then eventually Director. Throughout the years she has always had a passion for working with kids, seeing the smiles on their faces when learning something new, making new friends and growing socially and emotionally has always been a blessing and the connections made along the way have been so special to her. In her free time, she enjoys playing games, watching her favorite shows, coloring, and traveling, which includes her annual trip to Florida to see her family.
Mary Bowdish
Assistant Director
Mary Bowdish is the Assistant Director at Cadence Academy Preschool Yelm Highway in Olympia, WA. While originally from Washington, she recently returned after living in Michigan, where she earned her Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She has worked in early childhood education for about four years and remains deeply passionate about helping children learn, grow, and discover themselves in both daycare and preschool settings.
Mary is also a proud parent, with two daughters who attend Cadence Academy Preschool and love being part of the school community. She is proud to now serve on the team and support other families in creating positive early learning experiences.
Ms. Clayanna
Teacher of the Year
Ms. Clayanna is originally from the Northern Mariana Islands and moved to Washington four years ago with her family. While she misses the sunshine and beautiful beaches of home, she has grown to love living in Washington and being part of the preschool community.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and her two puppies. She brings warmth and care to her classroom each day and is dedicated to creating a positive early childhood education experience for every child in her care.
