Our Preschool & Childcare Programs
We take a skill-based approach to early education that balances social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. The flexibility built into our curriculum allows us to customize educational activities to match the interests and current skill level of each student so that these first educational experiences are engaging and fun!
Another significant part of our curriculum is our Kind Child program. Kind Child is a year-long program for children ages two and older that helps our teachers nurture and strengthen every child’s social and emotional skills. We have found that when we focus on the emotional well-being of each child in our care, we strengthen our school as well. We are confident that Kind Child will continue to strengthen the culture of our entire preschool center by elevating every child’s feelings of happiness, improving their well-being, and enriching their friendships.
Kindergarten Readiness
An exceptional education is an important part of our preschool’s promise to you. Most daycare centers and preschools that you’ll encounter when searching for care either have no curriculum or utilize a curriculum based on themes. We take a different approach.
Our Ascend Curriculum is skill-based and focuses on progressively building skill sets across nine different subjects each month. We work towards age-appropriate developmental milestones in every program and fine-tune important skills just before kindergarten during Kindergarten Club. We want your child to develop a lifelong love of learning and enjoy the exciting transition into elementary school!
Hello, I am Yvonne Carney, I have been a part of the family since July 8, 1985. I started working in childcare after I graduated from La Porte High School in 1985. During my time as a teacher for twenty years, I was given the opportunity to learn many skills, including being a better mother to my son. As time went by, my skills improved as a lead teacher and soon after I became Director. I have been the proud Director of a school that is known by many generations in our community. I have been married to my best friend, Gary, for 26 years. We were blessed with a son, Andrew. They are my heart and soul. My hobbies include crocheting, RC cars, camping, fishing, and sewing. My favorite thing to do is interacting with children.

I have been employed at The Peanut Gallery since September 2007. I joined as an Infant Teacher, then on to Lead Teacher, Office Help, and now Assistant Director. I was recently promoted to Assistant Director in August of 2014. I have two girls 2 and 10! I am an artist, besides working at The Peanut Gallery this is my favorite hobby. I love painting, drawing, and trying new art projects teachers and children throw my way. I believe in “Living for the moments you can’t put into words.”

I have been employed at Pals/The Peanut Gallery for 31 years this July. My 2 grown children have been through our program and now my three grandchildren. I enjoy photography, scrapbooking, and boating with my family.
Barbara Love
Lead Teacher
Barbara Love is the Lead Teacher in the Twos classroom at Cadence Academy Preschool, bringing nearly four decades of experience in early childhood education. She began her teaching career in October 1986 and has spent her professional life nurturing young children through some of their most formative years. Barbara has always believed that every child learns differently, and she approaches her work with patience, dedication, and a genuine desire to make a lasting difference in the lives of the children in her care.
Barbara finds great fulfillment in watching her students grow and develop, and she is deeply committed to creating a classroom environment where every child feels safe, supported, and encouraged to thrive. Outside of the classroom, Barbara enjoys spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren play sports, fishing, walking her dogs, scrapbooking, and reading. Families at Cadence Academy Preschool can count on Barbara to be a personable, hardworking, and caring presence in their child’s early education journey.
We have been with cadence for a long time. We adore all the teachers and the director. Our kids have thrived at this school.

Cadence Academy is great! The building itself is not as new inside as the other daycares but don’t let that steer you away. I love the open concept throughout the building with everyone being able to see everyone. The teachers here are very caring and love your child as if they are theirs. They have a few teachers that have been there for over 15 years. My children love this school and their teachers and that makes my heart full! They are one of the higher priced schools around and I feel it could be a little cheaper then what it is but you also get what you pay for and that’s the love and care everyone their provides.

Staff is AMAZING, especially Ms. Robin (Assistant Director) and Bonbon (Yvonne, Director.) They treat every child as if they are their own. My youngest has been going for almost 3 years, and I couldn't see us going anywhere else. They treat my family as if we are their family. 10/10 recommend!!
