About Cadence Academy Preschool in La Porte, TX
Families in La Porte have entrusted the care and early education of their children to Cadence Academy Preschool, La Porte for well over 30 years. Our directors, teachers, and staff are dedicated and nurturing child care professionals who are here to help your family make the most of these precious early years.
We Proudly Accept Texas Education Freedom Accounts! 
In 2025, the Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 2 and provided $1 billion in funding to create the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program and give parents greater freedom and flexibility in choosing the best educational environment for their children.
The TEFA program, administered by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, is expected to be the largest day-one school choice initiative in the nation.
Important Note from TEFA: High demand might be causing applications to be put in a queue. Texas families: TEFA applications are not first-come, first-served. You have until March 17 to apply, and timing won’t affect priority.

We take a skill-based approach to early education that balances social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. The flexibility built into our curriculum allows us to customize educational activities to match the interests and current skill level of each student so that these first educational experiences are engaging and fun!

Kind Child
Our Kind Child program was designed to help young children develop social skills and character. We focus on social-emotional skills within our monthly curriculum and introduce character traits like Responsibility, Thankfulness, and a Positive Self-Image every two months.
The goal of Kind Child is to elevate the emotional well-being of every child in our care and enrich friendships. We also spread kindness into our community through local volunteer activities and by holding Kind Child events like our annual Trike-A-Thon, which raises funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Kindergarten Readiness
An exceptional education is an important part of our preschool’s promise to you. Most daycare centers and preschools that you’ll encounter when searching for care either have no curriculum or utilize a curriculum based on themes. We take a different approach.
Our Ascend Curriculum is skill-based and focuses on progressively building skill sets across nine different subjects each month. We work towards age-appropriate developmental milestones in every program and fine-tune important skills just before kindergarten during Kindergarten Club. We want your child to develop a lifelong love of learning and enjoy the exciting transition into elementary school!

Yvonne Carney
School Director
Hello, I am Yvonne Carney, I have been a part of the family since July 8, 1985. I started working in childcare after I graduated from La Porte High School in 1985. During my time as a teacher for twenty years, I was given the opportunity to learn many skills, including being a better mother to my son. As time went by, my skills improved as a lead teacher and soon after I became Director. I have been the proud Director of a school that is known by many generations in our community. I have been married to my best friend, Gary, for 26 years. We were blessed with a son, Andrew. They are my heart and soul. My hobbies include crocheting, RC cars, camping, fishing, and sewing. My favorite thing to do is interacting with children.

I have been employed at The Peanut Gallery since September 2007. I joined as an Infant Teacher, then on to Lead Teacher, Office Help, and now Assistant Director. I was recently promoted to Assistant Director in August of 2014. I have two girls 2 and 10! I am an artist, besides working at The Peanut Gallery this is my favorite hobby. I love painting, drawing, and trying new art projects teachers and children throw my way. I believe in “Living for the moments you can’t put into words.”

I have been employed at Pals/The Peanut Gallery for 31 years this July. My 2 grown children have been through our program and now my three grandchildren. I enjoy photography, scrapbooking, and boating with my family.

I have worked at the Peanut Gallery as a two year old teacher since 1987! I graduated Deer Park High School. My hobbies are fishing with my husband, spending time with my family, and crafting.
