In 2025, the Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 2 and provided $1 billion in funding to create the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program and give parents greater freedom and flexibility in choosing the best educational environment for their children.
The TEFA program, administered by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, is expected to be the largest day-one school choice initiative in the nation.
Our Preschool and Daycare Curriculum
Our Ascend Curriculum supports the academic, physical, emotional, and creative development of every child and features activities in subjects such as Cultural Understanding, Baby Signs, Literacy, Mathematics, and Technology. We find that children learn best when activities are geared towards their interests. Our teachers are encouraged to individualize activities and engage in small group instruction so they can better respond to the needs and interests of each child. Even the youngest children in the infants program can benefit from the Ascend Curriculum.
Kind Child
A cornerstone of our preschool curriculum is our Kind Child program. The goal of Kind Child is to elevate every child’s feelings of happiness and encourage positive friendships. We introduce valuable character traits such as Responsibility, Thankfulness, Sharing, and a Positive Self-Image and develop social and emotional skills. We have found that when we attend to the emotional well-being of each child in our care, we also strengthen our school!

Stephanie Sharp
School Director
Stephanie Sharp is an experienced and passionate early childhood education leader with over two decades of service in the field. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in education. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Administration at the University of Phoenix. Stephanie began her career in early childhood education in 2003 as a teacher in a young toddler classroom. She later moved into the twos classroom, her personal favorite, before advancing to the role of Assistant Director in 2005. In 2012, she became the School Director at Cadence Academy Preschool in Carrollton, Texas, and has been leading with heart and dedication ever since.
What Stephanie loves most about early childhood education is that every day is different. She has a deep passion for supporting teachers and helping children grow and learn in meaningful ways. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys reading, watching reality TV, and cheering on her kids at their sporting events. She is devoted to creating a family-like atmosphere at Cadence Academy Preschool and truly cares for every teacher, child, and family in the Carrollton community that she works with, considering them all part of her extended family.
Christi Fields
Assistant Director
Christi Fields brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role as Assistant Director at Cadence Academy Preschool in Carrollton, Texas, where she helps ensure a high-quality daycare and preschool experience for children, families, and staff. She began her career in early childhood education in 2006, starting in Pre-K3 before progressing to a School Age Lead position. In 2019, she was promoted to Assistant Director, where she continues to make a positive impact on both children and staff.
Christi holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from American Intercontinental University, with a focus on juvenile probation. She is passionate about early childhood education and finds joy in seeing the hugs and smiles on the children’s faces each day. Christi values the opportunity to teach and support young learners in their development. Outside of work, Christi enjoys watching TV shows, shopping, and spending time with her dogs. She also loves traveling with her husband and kids. Known for being a great listener and always willing to help, Christi takes pride in being a supportive and approachable member of the Cadence Academy Preschool team.
Yesenia Veliz
Curriculum Director
Yesenia Veliz is a dedicated early childhood education professional with a passion for fostering growth and learning in young children. She holds an associate’s degree in early childhood education and is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s in the same field. Yesenia began her journey in education during high school through a two-year internship at a preschool in GISD. Since then, she has gained extensive experience working as a toddler, preschool, and twos teacher, as well as a curriculum coordinator. She also has experience in special education with LISD.
What drives Yesenia most is the joy of watching children grow, learn, and gain confidence as they discover new concepts by supporting teachers in creating engaging curriculum and improving classroom learning experiences in Cadence Academy Preschool. Outside of work, Yesenia enjoys baking desserts, watching movies, and spending quality time with her family. She loves the daily adventure that comes with working in early education and looks forward to connecting with the families at Cadence Academy Preschool in Carrollton, Texas.
Danielle Sewell
Teacher of the Year
Danielle Sewell has been dedicated to early childhood education since 2005. What began as a part-time job during college quickly blossomed into a lifelong passion. After realizing her love for working with children, Danielle transitioned from studying medical courses to becoming a full-time early childhood educator. Over the years, Danielle has worn many hats—spending a decade as an infant teacher, then challenging herself by taking on roles in the two’s classroom and later as an Assistant Director. Eventually, she followed her heart back into the classroom, where she discovered a true love for teaching kindergarten.
Danielle is known for the joy she brings to her classroom, especially when watching her students’ faces light up as they learn something new. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, reading, baking, and working on her small business, often incorporating fun and creative teaching techniques into her lessons. Her commitment to nurturing young minds and supporting her team has earned her the title of “Teacher of the Year”—a well-deserved recognition for her dedication and passion in Carrollton, Texas, where she helps preschool and daycare students build early academic confidence and a love of learning.
