Kind Child
Kind Child is a program that helps us focus on the social and emotional well-being of every student. We want our children to feel at home and welcome at our preschool and Kind Child is the component of our monthly curriculum that encourages social and emotional development. Our teachers focus on new skills every month and introduce a valuable character trait such as a Positive Self-Image, Thankfulness, and Respect every two months.
Ascend Curriculum
If you’re actively searching for a new daycare center or preschool, you’ve probably seen a number of approaches to early education. Most of our competitors either don’t have a curriculum, have a curriculum that is very rigid and scheduled, or have a curriculum that is theme-based or all play.
Our Ascend Curriculum is unique because it is skill-based and effectively balances play and structure. We want your child’s first educational experiences to be engaging, challenging, and fun so they naturally develop a love of learning. Our skill-based approach allows us to modify educational activities to the needs, interests, and current skill level of each child and we progressively build skill sets across nine subjects every month. Important skills are taught in every program and fine-tuned just before kindergarten in Kindergarten Club.
School-Age Program
Need an After School program for your elementary student? Our After School students love having their own space away from our preschoolers in our separate school age building. After School students enjoy an afternoon with friends and get help with homework.
We provide transportation from the following elementary schools: YPA, Mt. Gallant, India Hook, Cherry Park, Old Pointe and York Road. And, as elementary schools are altering schedules, we are here to serve your needs and the needs of your school-aged children with enhanced programs to help with virtual learning sessions and more.

Our Team

Savannah Joyner
School Director
I’m thrilled to be a part of the Carolina Kids family! Born and raised in Rock Hill, I now live here with my wonderful husband and our two amazing sons. My journey in early childhood education began after earning my degree in the field. I started as a toddler teacher in 2019, and over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in a variety of administrative roles. In January 2023, I proudly stepped into the role of Director—a position that truly feels like home. Working with children has always been my passion. Watching them learn, grow, and discover the world around them brings me so much joy. I genuinely can’t imagine doing anything else! Outside of work, I love spending time camping with my family, getting lost in a great book, and tending to my garden.

Madison Twedt
Assistant Director
I’m a Fort Mill native, but I’m incredibly proud to now serve as the Assistant Director at our Rock Hill location. I love getting to know each family that walks through our doors. My heart is in helping families feel welcomed, supported, and confident whether it’s during the enrollment process or just chatting about your child’s day. My background is in enrollment and family engagement, and nothing brings me more joy than building real connections and being a part of your little one’s early learning experience. Outside of my administrative experience, I started with the company in a young toddler classroom, and it was a joy to watch children grow into their personalities! Outside of Carolina Kids, I spend most of my time with my partner Kevin and our three wild and wonderful boys: Beckham, Brayden, and Alias. I enjoy shopping with my sister Hannah and family dinners. Life is full and fun, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Krista Rowland
Teacher of the Year
Krista began her journey working with children through volunteer work with various Rock Hill schools and local sports programs from 2000 to 2016. With degrees in Business and Logistics, she spent 12 years in the corporate world before following her heart and joining the Carolina Kids family in January 2018. Krista is thrilled to be working with children and families again. She finds joy in witnessing every stage of child development and especially loves watching kids build confidence as they master new skills. Originally born in Pennsylvania, Krista was raised in Rock Hill, where she continues to live today. She has two grown children and is a proud grandmother to a sweet granddaughter! As a child, Krista danced competitively and once dreamed of becoming a professional ballerina. When she’s not at work, Krista enjoys crafting, scrapbooking, event planning, vintage shopping, and spending time with her beloved wiener dog, Gunther. In recognition of her outstanding work ethic, strong relationships with families, and dedication to providing developmentally appropriate activities, Krista was honored as Teacher of the Year in 2025.
