Our Effective Curriculum
We utilize The Children’s Workshop Curriculum, a nationally accredited framework that draws inspiration from Creative Curriculum and the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards. Because children retain more information when they’re having fun, our programs emphasize learning through play. Our curriculum provides a strong foundation for children’s academic success both now and in the future.
Not only does Cadence Academy Preschool provide a nationally recognized curriculum, but we also offer a warm, nurturing environment, and an opportunity for every child to receive a quality education.
Parent Communication App
We have an extraordinary Parent Communication App that our teachers use daily to relay information and send pictures to family members, send newsletters, and track developmental progress for each child’s portfolio! With this application, parents/guardians are able to opt into email or text alerts and they can receive any information, instantaneously, about their child and their child’s school day.
Teachers and staff can tag daily pictures with our Developmental Domains (Social/Emotional, Physical, Artistic, Cognitive, and Language/Literacy) and are then able to communicate with the parents/guardians by adding captions or sending quick little notes. Families LOVE this feature and we’re utilizing it more and more each day! We are so excited to be able to communicate with our families throughout the day and to show them what their children are learning each day.
We are VERY proud to be a BrightStars rated program! For more information about BrightStars and the high quality standards they demand of their rated programs, please Visit the BrightStars website!

Bianca Macaruso
School Director
I began my journey with Cadence Education in 2013, starting my very first job in early childhood education. Over the years, I discovered a true passion for supporting children, families, and educators. In 2018, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Rhode Island College, and in 2020, I stepped into the role of Director. One of the greatest joys of my career has been walking alongside families and teachers, offering encouragement, guidance, and support. I especially love watching the incredible growth of children — from infants to Pre-K — and being part of such a meaningful season of their lives. Every day, I’m reminded of the impact early childhood educators have in shaping the foundation of learning, and I feel grateful to continue making a difference in this field.

Lauren Briggs
Assistant Director
I’ve been part of the Cadence Academy family for nearly seven years. I began my journey as an Infant Assistant and proudly stepped into the role of Assistant Director in 2022. With over a decade of experience in early childhood education, I’m passionate about supporting young learners as they grow, explore, and thrive. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Rhode Island College and earned my Early Childhood Education certificate from CCRI. I genuinely enjoy working with children of all age groups and feel honored to be part of their developmental journey. Cadence Academy holds a special place in my heart—not only as an educator but as a parent. I truly believe it’s the best early childhood education center, and I wouldn’t want my own children anywhere else. When I’m not at work, I’m spending quality time with my husband, Matt, and our two wonderful children, Lillian and Tucker.

Ms. Laurel
Teacher of the Year
I am the Lead Pre-Kindergarten Teacher and was honored to be named Teacher of the Year in 2025, and I feel incredibly grateful to spend each day helping young learners grow, explore, and thrive. I have a special passion for early literacy and love introducing my students to the joy of reading. I’m a frequent library-goer and always on the lookout for fun, engaging books to spark curiosity in our classroom. I hold an Associate Degree in General Studies and am currently working toward my degree in Early Childhood Education. When I’m not in the classroom, you can usually find me knitting, reading, or spending time with my family. At Cadence Academy, I strive to create a nurturing, engaging environment where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to learn.
