About Cadence Academy Preschool in West Linn, OR
Cadence Academy Preschool provides a positive, loving, and nurturing learning environment for young children. Our programs are designed to enhance what children naturally love to do… learn! Our indoor and outdoor environments were specially designed to give each individual child opportunities to learn and grow in beautiful surroundings. Preschool aged children will be offered opportunities for independence while using aspects of Montessori such as Practical Life and Sensorial materials in addition to our proprietary Ascend curriculum.
The Ascend Curriculum is designed to develop your child’s cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and creative abilities. Skill-based learning has been proven to help students think critically, learn to solve problems, and become more independent, so they can succeed in elementary school and beyond.

Programs Offered
Infant Care
Our infant care program invites children starting at the age of six weeks up to 18 months. Though leaving your little one for the first time is a big step, our nurturing environment is designed to feel just like a home away from home. Choosing our program ensures your baby receives personalized attention that supports their earliest developmental milestones.
Toddler Care
Our toddler care program invites children starting at 12 months up to 3 years old. Though toddlers are full of boundless energy, our environment is designed to channel that curiosity into safe exploration. Choosing a program that balances hands-on learning with guided play is a key step in fostering your child’s emerging independence.
Preschool
Our preschool program invites children starting at 3 years up to 5 years old. Though we introduce early academic concepts, we believe that learning happens naturally through open-ended play. Choosing our preschool environment helps build the essential “I can do it” confidence that serves as a foundation for their future education.
Pre-Kindergarten
Our Pre-Kindergarten program invites children starting at 4 years up to 5 years old. Though the focus shifts to kindergarten readiness, we ensure the preparation remains engaging and stress-free. Choosing our specialized curriculum ensures your child is academically and socially prepared for a smooth transition to elementary school.

Our Team
Jessica James
School Director
Jessica James is the School Director at Cadence Academy Preschool, bringing a diverse educational background and a genuine love for the field to her role. She studied Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, and Early Childhood Education at Flathead Valley Community College, and Geography — Urban and Environmental Planning at the University of Montana. Jessica entered early childhood education in June 2022 and jumped in headfirst, earning her Associate’s degree in ECE in 2025 and participating in conferences and cohorts focused on child development and childcare’s impact on local communities. In June 2026, she made an exciting move to Oregon to continue growing as a leader, and she couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of this team.
Jessica’s greatest joy is meeting children, families, and colleagues exactly where they are. She believes deeply that it takes a village, and she is fully invested in every part of that — from the smallest moments with a child to building real, lasting partnerships with families and staff. Outside of work, Jessica loves road trips, exploring local restaurants, cooking for the people she loves, and winding down with a good audiobook. She and her family are always on the lookout for a fun park, a great farmers’ market, or the perfect cup of coffee.

I began working in early childhood education when I was 19 years old, without the expectation that it would turn into a career. I started out as a part-time floater, and through the years I worked my way up to different managerial positions both in and out of the classroom. Helping parents as they navigated the early years was also very important to me. I always enjoyed working with children and supporting their growth, but I truly fell in love with the work that was pouring into my fellow teachers. Supporting a teaching team of young men and women was both rewarding and fun – every day felt like I was making my community a better place. I still feel this way all these years later. Being a part of the admin team at Cadence is a new adventure that I’m excited to be on.
