About Cadence Academy Preschool in Portland, OR
Cadence Academy Preschool, Portland offers nurturing childcare and preschool programs for families in NE Portland. This school served as a preschool in the community for over thirty years prior to us opening our doors, but needed major remodeling before it became the first Cadence Academy location in 2000. Our preschool center features two cottages, a fenced playground, and an outdoor gardening area.
We are proud to lead the way in preparing children for kindergarten. Through our specialized curriculum and dedicated teachers, we strive to ensure that your child is not just ready for kindergarten, but ready to excel. In 2024, 100% of the Pre-K children assessed in our school demonstrated Readiness or Advanced Readiness for Kindergarten!

Our Educational Philosophy
We take a balanced approach to early childhood education and have created a preschool environment where children find joy in learning. We are focused on the social, emotional, and intellectual development of each child in our care and we work towards the acquisition of meaningful and useful academic skills.
We give each child the tools to succeed so that when they enter more formal educational systems later in life, they have the skills and confidence to thrive. Our preschool and childcare programs encourage positive relationships and the development of critical thinking skills, which evolve through experimentation, exploration, and play.
Family Involvement
Communication between parents and school is a critical aspect of a successful early educational experience. We have a Parent Orientation prior to your child’s start date, parent conferences each April, and constantly provide feedback on your child’s development.
We have an open door policy and encourage your involvement in our preschool community. Many parents stop by to read to the children, help in the garden, participate in school events, or join us on field trips.

Ms. Nicole
Teacher of the Year
Nicole is our Teacher of the Year at Cadence Academy Gateway. She is our Pre-K teacher and is extremely creative, nurturing, and excited about children’s learning! She is always in tune with her student’s needs and is constantly striving for best solutions to create a fair, kind, and educational environment for all children in her care. She is the final step to prepare children for the transition to Kindergarten and excels at it. In her free time, she enjoys sculpting and camping with her cat Frog and dog Teegan. She has a love for storytelling and art with the children and seeing what their creative minds come up with!
