At Cadence Academy, Wilmington we offer child care and early childhood education programs for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years old.
Our amazing preschool features 11 custom-designed classrooms where students have ample space for learning, yet enjoy a cozy atmosphere that feels like home.
And, as elementary schools are altering schedules, we are here to serve your needs and the needs of your school-aged children with enhanced programs to help with virtual learning sessions and more. Every parent and family is important to us, and we pride ourselves on delivering excellent care for our children.

We know that a child’s first five years are critical to cognitive, social, creative, and physical development. At Cadence Academy, Wilmington, we encourage children to learn and grow by providing a foundation of developmentally-appropriate educational experiences in a safe, nurturing environment.
We are a four-star accredited preschool and exceed the high standards set by the state of North Carolina for child development. Throughout the year, we offer several opportunities for families to get involved in our school: community yard sales, ice cream socials, spaghetti dinners, parents’ night out, and many other special, family-focused events. We also offer a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack, included in the price of tuition, and prepared each day by our wonderful cook. Additionally, we have the best After School program in Wilmington: it includes homework help and free transportation from area schools for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Cadence KickStart™ Soccer is a high-energy enrichment program designed to build confidence, coordination, and teamwork through fun, age-appropriate soccer play. Led by the teachers your child already knows and trusts, it’s seamlessly built into the school day.
Designed for ages 3–5
12-week program (once per week)

Builds balance, coordination, and motor skills

I’m from Willard, NC and I have over 20 years of experience in the childcare field as a Teacher and a Director. I have my associates degree in early childhood education and started with at this school when we opened in November 2005. I have been married for 26 years and have 2 children, Josh and Courtney (who also works with in the Infant classrooms here at Cadence Academy). I just recently became a grandmother to my first grandson, Kagen.
I love working with children and making their environment a fun filled learning experience that keeps them coming back for more. It is my goal for all of our families to feel like they are at home when they leave their children in our hands as they go off to work or school. Cadence Academy has become my second home as I spend my days making sure that our families and staff are well taken care of.
Jessica Tew has been with Cadence Academy since June 2006. She has over 16 years’ experience with all age groups and has her Early Childhood Credentials as well as several additional Education classes from UNCW. She has a daughter, Peyton, who has grown up at Cadence and a step-son, Jacob, who will be attending college soon.
Wendy Fera is our Infant One Teacher and has been with Cadence Academy since August 2006. She has over 8 years’ experience working with children of all ages. She is married with 2 children and 4 grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys knitting, baking, and card making.
