5 Star Rating
The state of North Carolina recognizes that choosing quality child care is one of the most important decisions a parent makes and started issuing star rated licenses to eligible daycare centers and child care facilities in September 2000. Facilities are evaluated on program standards and staff education and Cadence Academy Ballantyne is proud to have a Five Star Center License, which is the state’s highest rating.
Ascend Curriculum
Our Ascend Curriculum enables teachers to individualize instruction to accommodate the interests and learning styles of each child and ensures that your child is engaged, supported, and challenged at every stage of their development. Each month, our teachers focus on developing age-appropriate skills in areas such as Literacy, Language, Creative Expression, and Physical Fitness.
The Ascend Curriculum recognizes that young children need much more than academic development in their first educational experiences and takes a balanced approach that allows us to focus on the social, emotional, creative, and physical development of your child too.

Our Team

Lisa Horton
Director
For the past 41 years, I have worked on behalf of children and families in the education field both as a teacher as well as a Senior Director/Field Director, Regional/Financial Manager, and Trainer. I have also been involved in volunteer work in the community including co-chairing the Mecklenburg area Early Education Leaders Association, participating in the local Directors Leadership Academy, and working with the early childhood students at CPCC.
I am committed to providing only the highest quality of care and education for children and families. I have led three early childcare centers through the NAEYC Accreditation process as well as the North Carolina Star Rating process. I have also been a validator for the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). I have conducted faculty trainings as well as presented workshops at many early childhood conferences.
I believe that learning is a lifelong process; therefore, my vision is for the center to become, together, a community of learners and educators. I also believe that ongoing training is vital to maintaining quality and that parents are our partners in the education of children.

Reginald “Reggie” Adkins
Preschool Assistant Director
After 2 years in public school, I joined Cadence Education in Fall 2023 as the Fort Mill School Age Coordinator. I like that you get to see children develop, gain familiarity with teachers, and bring more and more of their personality out. It’s a great feeling to walk into a classroom, and the kids all rush up because they’re so excited to see me. Helping and supporting others is one of my strongest skills. Making sure others are having a good experience enriches my experience. My wife and I got married in 2022. She is an elementary school art teacher, and I had the opportunity to work with her at her school for a year before joining Cadence. In my free time, I like to spend time with my wife and 2 sons. On weekends, we spend time with friends and our parents as well.

Faith Davis
Teacher of the Year
I’ve been a Pre-K teacher at Cadence Ballantyne for the past four years. Before that, I proudly served in the U.S. Army. After leaving the military, I wanted a career where I could continue serving—this time, by supporting children and their families. Cadence Academy gave me that opportunity.
Teaching has been incredibly rewarding. I love building strong connections with my students and their families, and I believe open communication creates the loving environment kids need to grow and thrive.
This work has also helped me grow as a parent. I have two amazing boys, Brandon and Justin, and I enjoy spending time with them—whether we’re going on adventures or trying new recipes. Every day, I come to work inspired—to give, to grow, and to receive all the warm hugs and happy smiles from the children.
