Cadence Academy Preschool in Florence, Kentucky was previously known as Abby’s Child Enrichment Center, but we changed our name to reflect our ongoing commitment to providing Florence families with quality child care and preschool programs. It’s the proprietary programming like Kindergarten Club and Kind Child that truly makes the difference in the lives of our students.

Another significant part of our curriculum is our Kind Child program. Kind Child is a year-long program for children ages two and older that helps our teachers nurture and strengthen every child’s social and emotional skills. We have found that when we focus on the emotional well-being of each child in our care, we strengthen our school as well. We are confident that Kind Child will continue to strengthen the culture of our entire preschool center by elevating every child’s feelings of happiness, improving their well-being, and enriching their friendships.
Our preschool provides a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks every day, which are included in our standard tuition. We encourage our children to try a variety of healthy foods from all the food groups through our Food For Thought Program. Our preschool menu includes items like fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain bread, rolls, and pasta, low-sugar yogurt and cereal, and much more. We’re very picky about our menu choices. Our aim is to nurture both body and mind and pave the way for a lifetime of good food choices.
The safety and security of the children in our care are always a top concern. We have security cameras throughout our Florence preschool center, including coverage of the playground. We have a secure entry system, and there is always a staff member up front to greet family and screen visitors.
Your child’s health and safety are also extremely important to us. Each of our classrooms is equipped with toys, furniture, and equipment that is appropriate for that age group, and we have air purification systems in each room too. We love outdoor learning, and there’s a playground for outdoor play when the weather is favorable and indoor play spaces when it isn’t.
The Cadence Academy Preschool Ascend curriculum is designed to prepare your child for kindergarten. We believe that a well-rounded preschool experience is important in encouraging lifelong learners, so we focus on nine learning domains: Literacy, Math, Science, Physical Fitness, Creative Expression, Social-Emotional Development, Cultural Understanding, Technology and Language.
Ongoing student assessments help to ensure that children are on the right path at a pace that they are comfortable with. We’re proud of the results: in 2024, 100% of the Pre-K children assessed at our Florence school demonstrated Readiness or Advanced Readiness for Kindergarten. Your child will be ready for the academic challenges ahead, along with the social and emotional skills they need to be successful in life.

I have been working with children most of life. I have been an early childhood educator for almost 30 years. I am passionate about children and I am dedicated to provide them a safe, loving and learning environment where they can grow and blossom. I have a great love for their curiosity and imagination and it is such a blessing to be a part of their care and education at a young age and being able to create that strong foundation. In my free time I love to scrapbook, travel, watch movies and enjoy time with my family.
I have been working here for 16 years. I started off as a teacher in the infant room and made my way through all the classrooms as a teacher. I am now the assistant director here at our Florence Center. I have a Bachelor degree in Photography with a minor in Child psychology. I have been married for a little over 16 years and I have three children ages of 13, 10, and 8. Outside of work I spend most of my time at my children’s sporting events, camping, and trying to stay active outside. We also have two dogs now. Sugar is a Collie mix and Nia is a German Shepard puppy. I love the work that I do. I love spending every day watching the children grow and learn. It’s amazing how fast they all grow up.
The National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs (NAC) is a national accreditation program that was developed for early care and educational programs. NAC offers early childhood leaders the opportunity to demonstrate and document quality performance using research-based criteria and evidence-based practices. The National Accreditation Commission provides a comprehensive, ongoing quality improvement system and accredited schools must meet standards in the following 6 component areas: Administration, Family Engagement, Health and Safety, Curriculum, Interactions between Teachers and Children, and Classroom Health and Safety.
We are proud to boast that our programs maintain a high star rating by Kentucky All Stars, Kentucky’s voluntary quality rating system for licensed Type I and Type II child care centers and Certified family child care homes. All STARS levels surpass the minimum licensing requirements that all participating programs must meet. Kentucky All Stars provides parents with a tool to help identify levels of quality when seeking a childcare setting outside of their home. Childcare centers and family childcare homes participating in Kentucky All Stars demonstrate a commitment toward providing quality care and education. Parents can use the rating system to gain an understanding of the factors that contribute to quality care and education, and can choose a child care setting that best matches their family’s needs. Kentucky All Stars represents a collaborative effort to ensure that young children in Kentucky are in early care and education settings that are seeking ever-increasing quality.
