About Canterbury Preparatory School Preschool in Overland Park, KS
Canterbury Preparatory School first opened its doors on August 14th, 2001 and is conveniently located in the Corporate Lakes Business Park in Overland Park, Kansas. We’re only a mile from both the I-435 and US-69 freeways. We know that finding the right early childhood program for your family is one of the most important decisions you can make and we strive every day to create an enriching environment where your child will thrive.
Our trained, qualified, and caring staff takes a hands-on approach to learning and provides quality programming and dedicated teachers for children from when they join us as infants all the way through pre-kindergarten. Our students are encouraged to be active and creative explorers, as well as independent, self-confident and inquisitive learners. Each child is treated as an individual and encouraged to progress at his or her natural ability while still reaching desired age-level goals.

Our Philosophy
Our primary objective at Canterbury Academy is to provide the most enriching environment to facilitate a child’s development. We believe that every child has the ability to learn and to teach, and that a child who enjoys learning will always seek challenges in life.
Our programs are based upon the Montessori principles of self-direction, and experiential education. We promote a thoughtful and sensitive atmosphere in each classroom, and we support cooperation between children as they learn from one another.
What Makes Us Unique
Canterbury Academy schools are known for our warmly decorated, homelike environment. Our family-friendly policy is one that welcomes parent visits any time of the day. We host monthly events and parties celebrating major holidays that create a fun, celebratory feel on campus. We also offer age-appropriate playgrounds and outdoor learning environments.
Breakfast and a hot, nutritious lunch is made on-premises by our full-time cook and served each day along with regularly scheduled snacks.

We are conveniently located near the intersection of Metcalf Avenue and W 119th St, less than a mile from the I-435 and US-69 freeways. Some of our neighboring communities include Deer Creek and Lionsgate. We’re excited to show you what makes Canterbury Preparatory School different.

Randee Pereira
Assistant Director
I have worked with the Canterbury Schools for over 26 years now and feel that the early childhood field is my passion because of the pure innocence of the children and the amount of growth you see in them. I have been married to my husband Albert for 16 years. We have two kids in the tween and teen stages now, Augustus and Eleanor. I spend most of my spare time running them to and from practices and games, however, my happy place is watching my children play sports. Any other spare time I have, I’m caring for all my indoor plants and working in my yard.

I’m from Sierra Leone West Africa. Prior to KC, we live in NYC. I have been working with children since 2007. I have my Associate’s in Psychology and will continue with my Bachelor’s in Early Childhood. I enjoy working with children because they are honest and loving. I also love how they are curious about everything and grow from one development stage to the next! I have two brothers and two sisters. I have been married to my husband for 15 years. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love nature, enjoy reading, jogging, yoga, hiking, dancing, and traveling!
Kelsey Fedor
School Director
Kelsey Fedor brings nearly 10 years of experience in early childhood education. She earned her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential through the Childcare Education Institute and completed her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration through Colorado Technical University. Kelsey is passionate about creating safe, supportive learning environments where children can build confidence, develop new skills, and grow into independent learners.
Throughout her career, Kelsey has worked directly with children and advanced into leadership roles focused on program development, staff support, and family engagement. As both an educator and a parent, she understands the importance of strong partnerships between families and schools. Outside of work, Kelsey enjoys spending time with her children, family, and friends, being outdoors, gardening, thrift shopping, and playing board games. She is dedicated to creating a positive, nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported.

I have worked in the Early Childhood field for over 40 years! I have a grown son who lives in Washington D.C. I enjoy camping, traveling, shopping and eating at new and different restaurants.
