Preschool & Childcare Programs Offered:
- Infant Childcare (6 weeks – 14 months). Your baby’s journey begins in our infant childcare program. Because young children develop at their own pace, our staff monitors each infant continuously for normal developmental patterns, and uses creative activities to help them in meeting various developmental goals.
- Toddler Childcare (15 months – 23 months). Toddlers need the freedom to explore and recreate the world around them. Through play and assessment, our teachers prepare your child to advance to our preschool classroom.
- Two-Year-Olds (2 – 3 years). In this daycare program, our staff provides a daily report with your two-year-old’s eating, napping, and toileting routine, as well as daily academic accomplishments.
- Preschool (3 – 5 years). This preschool program encourages your child to get involved in hands-on activities that enhance his or her preschool learning experiences, preparing them for elementary school.
- School-Age Program (5 – 12 years). This program offers a combination of both organized and independent educational and recreational activities as well as distance learning support.
- Summer Camp (6 – 12 years). As part of our summer camp program, children stay cool with fun, learning, and amazing friendships made along the way.
Our Positive Behavior Support (PBS) program focuses on your child’s social and emotional development, closely modeled after Vanderbilt University’s The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) philosophies.
We work hard to build strong character and friendships so that students can be a part of a classroom where they work together and respect one another.
At Cadence Academy Preschool, we understand that young children first start to comprehend their surroundings from an egocentric perspective. Building strong attachments with caregivers and sharing feelings can help children better understand their emotions, as well as others. We recognize that once children start to realize that their peers have feelings and needs, too, they start to learn how to socialize with each other.

Stefani Speer
Assistant Director
I began my journey with Cadence Academy in 2015 as a floating assistant teacher. Upon graduating from Illinois State University, I became a lead teacher in our infant/toddler classroom, gaining ample knowledge and experience. I took a brief leave from school when my husband, Matt and I decided to start a family. After welcoming my son, Levi, my teacher heart and mom heart were aching to be back. I knew that Cadence was the only place for both of us to thrive and truly be happy. Fortunately, we were welcomed back with open arms.
While on maternity leave, after the birth of my second son, Brody, I was graciously offered the assistant director position, which I joyfully accepted.
Cadence Academy is so much more than just a school to me. It is the place where I have the privilege of applying my hands-on teaching experience into my leadership role— supporting staff, bonding with current and prospective families, and assisting our incredible director to ensure our school is running smoothly and safely.
Cadence is our home away from home. The place where my children met their first friends. It is the place where I am committed to providing our amazing families with the love, safety, security, and peace of mind that my family and I are lucky enough to be a part of.

Becky Harcharick
Teacher of the Year
My name is Ms. Becky, and I was born and raised here in Normal, IL! I have a doggy named Lilo and we live with my boyfriend, Patrick, and his cat named Curt!
My momma is a preschool teacher, so I always strived to be just like her one day. I used to play school with my stuffed animals as a child and as soon as I was old enough, I started babysitting all my neighbors. In high school, I thrived in choir and in the preschool room at NCHS where I graduated in 2012. I began working in a childcare setting in 2014 and I graduated from Heartland Community College in 2018 with an associate’s in early childhood education. I have been working at Cadence Academy Preschool since the spring of 2023!
I’ve worked with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school age, but 4’s/5’s are my favorite age to teach! I have adored all my time at Cadence so far and I’m so excited to see what my future with Cadence holds.
