About Cadence Academy Preschool in Morton

At Cadence Academy Preschool in Morton, we believe in making the most of your child’s early years. We take great steps to ensure exceptional, quality childcare for the children we serve, and to provide a customized learning experience for each student.

We teach children academically, as well as socially and emotionally. In fact, our primary goal at Cadence Academy Preschool in Morton, Illinois is knowing our children as individuals, which helps us meet their specific needs. The bottom line is that we celebrate the uniqueness of each child that walks through our preschool learning center’s doors.

Our Childcare & Preschool Programs:

  • Infant Childcare (6 weeks – 15 months). In this childcare program, our highly-experienced teachers incorporate creative activities to help your infant in meeting his or her developmental goals.
  • Toddler Childcare (15 months – 2 years). We base our toddler childcare program on language development, independence, creative movement, and classmate socialization.
  • Two-Year-Olds (2 – 3 years). As part of our two-year-old program, we focus on cognitive and social development, a love of literacy, potty training, and lots of fitness and play time.
  • Preschool & Pre-K (3 – 5 years). By integrating self-directed and structured activities, this preschool program offers opportunities for students to enhance skills and creativity. Activities focus on problem-solving, language, physical, as well as social skill building, all with an emphasis placed on elementary school readiness.
  • School-Age Program (5 – 12 years). We pick students up from local elementary schools for lots of learning and fun.
  • Summer Camp (6 – 12 years). Kids need the chance to experience freedom as they explore a variety of interest areas in the classroom. In this summer school program, they are also encouraged to create activities relevant to their particular interests.

Our Focus On Your Child’s Social and Emotional Needs

At Cadence Academy Preschool, we incorporate an approach developed by the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) that recognizes positive behavior and reduces or helps eliminate, challenging behaviors. The Positive Behavior Support (PBS) program also enhances social and emotional development and promotes school readiness.

This innovative approach, which we refer to as PBS, focuses on being proactive in preventing challenging behaviors by building positive relationships; creating a supportive environment for students; and, leveraging particular methods in teaching social and emotional development. As such, the amount of time spent addressing challenging behaviors is significantly reduced and allows our teachers to focus on the positive behaviors.

Ultimately, the PBS program helps our early childhood educators to focus one-on-one with students, especially during challenging times. At Cadence Academy Preschool, we want your child to learn through every experience to ensure they are always growing and developing.

Our Approach to Early Childhood Education

Because the goal of our private preschool is to focus on the positive, our teachers work hard to continuously create various strategies to reassure children that they are making good choices. With PBS, preschool students want to be “caught being good.” Our experienced teachers reinforce positive behavior regularly.

We also strive to meet the emotional needs of each child at our preschool learning center. For example, we offer a special “Thought Spot” in our classrooms, which provides a quiet space for students to relax when they need a moment to collect themselves. We offer posters, books, activities, comfortable rugs, and pillows to help children understand their feelings and learn to control various emotions.

Tina Wyman

School Director

I started in May 1991 as soon as I graduated from High School.

I have learned a lot of things through this journey, and it has made me a better person and teacher watching all the children learn and grow.  My door is always open to families and staff.  The staff are part of my family I support them personally and professional.

I have a son that lives in Florida and a daughter that works here with me at Cadence.  I have 3 Grandchildren that I spoil.  I love working here at Cadence and seeing all the children’s faces.  When they learn something new and are so excited to share it with everyone.  Seeing the progress of each child in their experiences here at Cadence.  Building the future for the kids here at Cadence and showing them love and support.  I have an open door policy for staff and families here.  I’m very open minded and like to include my staff in all the fun things we do here.  Team building is something I look forward to do with staff.

Katie Baker

Assistant Director

Hello, I am Miss Katie! I graduated from Bradley University with my Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about early childhood education because there is so much learning and development that happens in the first five years. Children are like sponges and can absorb so much information. My passion for early childhood education began while working in a children’s library. I began taking college courses and graduated from Bradley University. My plan was to teach kindergarten. After having a child of my own I chose to cherish those first early years as a stay-at-home mother. I began working as a nanny. When I was ready, I became a lead teacher for the two-year-old classroom here at Cadence Academy. I loved every second of it and felt this was my calling. I transitioned to helping the directors out front. I stepped into the Assistant Director position where I love being involved with all our families and staff.

In my free time, I love Spending time with my family, being outdoors in nature, art projects with my daughter, and relaxing at home. I love to cook, especially Asian cuisine. Eating food from my favorite restaurants is one of my favorite things to do. I love creating things from crystal bracelets and wire wrapping, working with clay and resin, and tie dye clothing.  I am working on a green thumb and growing different plants from succulents to avocado and lemon trees. I love animals and have a cat, a three toed box turtle, and a hedgehog. I love taking care of our center’s aquarium.

I have been with Rogys for almost six years and wouldn’t change it! My son started in the infant room and has since graduated the Pre-K program. He had the best teachers along the way. Now, he’s in kindergarten and shining! My daughter still attends and has been there since she was 3 months old. The teachers are like family. Update: my daughter is now onto Kindergarten this fall. She went to her Kindergarten screening and did amazing. My girl is Kindergarten ready and I have all the teachers at Cadence in her life to thank for that!

Cadence is a wonderful place for both children and parents! ALL of the staff is extremely nice, professional, and fantastic with children. The communication between parents and teachers is fantastic. Both of my children are showing tremendous developmental improvement daily, and that is due to the knowledge and patience of the teachers at Cadence. I have and will continue to recommend this facility to any and all parents of young children I know in the area!

I was apprehensive about transitioning my daughter to preschool after 3 years of being home with me, but Cadence Academy quickly became a home away from home for her. They were patient and encouraging as she adjusted. I've seen my daughter blossom and grow in her 2 years there. I am eternally grateful to the quality educators and administrators that work tirelessly to provide children with an environment that nurtures creativity, promotes emotional intelligence, and focuses on the development of the individual as a whole. I love the peace of mind and have complete confidence that my daughter is in the best of hands and in an environment that shares my values and educational objectives. They truly love and value my daughter as I do, and that makes all the difference.
