Cadence Academy has partnered with the Norwalk Community School District to offer an on-site Before and After School Care program at both Oviatt, Orchard Hills and Lakewood Elementary Schools.
Our program is organized to promote a club-like atmosphere and offers kids a variety of carefully planned activities including arts and crafts, music and culture, reading, writing, drama, athletics, and cooking. Children enjoy the freedom to choose the projects that interest them, which provides them a sense of independence. Whether your child needs help with homework, time to relax and enjoy a snack, or to socialize and play board games with friends, he or she will find it at Cadence Academy Before & After School!

Our Community Philosophy
We believe that the hours before and after school are the perfect time for children to explore their interests and build lasting friendships, so we offer our elementary students a world of choices to help foster both. Community is important to us at Cadence Academy and we’re proud to provide a safe, developmentally stimulating place where children thrive.
Our Before and After Care program ensures that out-of-school hours are spent constructively. We also regularly invite parents and family members into our center to share in the fun and learning!
Before & After Locations
Our program takes place on-site at Oviatt, Orchard Hills and Lakewood Elementary Schools. Oviatt Elementary School is located at 713 School Avenue in Norwalk, Iowa, 50211. Orchard Hills Elementary School is located at 1130 West North Avenue. Lakewood Elementary School is at 9210 Happy Hollow Drive in Norwalk, Iowa, 50211. School Director
I have been with Cadence Academy since 1995 and I have had the pleasure of being the Director of our program since its inception and opening in June of 2004. I am very appreciative of the partnership we have formed with the Norwalk Community School District to offer our before & after school program at Oviatt, Orchard Hills and Lakewood.
As a resident of Norwalk since 1985 and a parent of a child who attended school in the district from kindergarten through high school graduation, I love that I can provide parents with insight into what resources our community has to offer.
Our teachers will help your child with homework after school, in addition students may choose to relax, have a snack, create, build, read, and play board games with friends. Each student enjoys the freedom to choose the activities that interest them.
Students, parents and our teaching team are all part of our Cadence community within the Norwalk community.

I have worked in the Early Childhood Education field for 25 years and joined the Cadence Academy team in 2023.
I enjoy the opportunities that my role in our program gives me to make connections with our students, their parents and our district partners. Being able to witness the growth that happens during the elementary years is very rewarding.
Miss. Olivia
Teacher of the Year
Miss Olivia was nominated by her peers as our program’s 2025 Teacher of the Year. She was subsequently selected as the 2025 Teacher of the Year for the Iowa/Arkansas Region.
Miss Olivia began her career with Cadence Academy as an assistant teacher while in high school. She continued to work with us while attending college in the field of Early Childhood Education and has been our Lead Teacher since 2017.
She enjoys creating lesson plans that engage our K-5 students in developing skills to help them navigate through the academic and social/emotional growth events of the early elementary years.
