About Cadence Academy Preschool in Alpharetta, GA

Cadence Academy Preschool (formerly Peachtree Park Prep) offers an enriching and challenging preschool environment that lovingly prepares young children for future academic and professional success. If you’re looking for a well-balanced preparatory experience that goes much deeper than typical daycare programming, you’ve come to the right place! Our preschool programs give our students a solid foundation in core subjects such as Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science, but we balance these activities with lots of fun and specialty instruction in Art, Music, Spanish & Chinese, and Physical Education.

Loving to Learn

Loving to Learn is a theme that runs through each and every class at Cadence Academy Preschool. Your child’s first educational experiences are extremely important because they shape how your child will respond to educational opportunities throughout their academic career. We have high academic standards at Cadence Academy Preschool, but we achieve them through exciting and engaging educational activities so our preschool students can naturally develop a love of learning.

Kind Child Program

Another significant part of our curriculum is our Kind Child program. Kind Child is a year-long program for children ages two and older that helps our teachers nurture and strengthen every child’s social and emotional skills. We have found that when we focus on the emotional well-being of each child in our care, we strengthen our school as well. We are confident that Kind Child will continue to strengthen the culture of our entire preschool center by elevating every child’s feelings of happiness, improving their well-being, and enriching their friendships.

Kids Cafe Preschool Cooking Program

Cooking Up Confidence, One Recipe At A Time!

Kids Café is a hands-on cooking program where children explore new foods, build confidence, and develop essential life skills through fun, guided kitchen experiences.

Program Highlights:

Designed for ages 3+
Weekly sessions over a 12-week program
Hands-on cooking activities and kid-friendly recipes
Builds teamwork, sharing, and communication skills
Encourages problem-solving and following directions
Supports early math, literacy, and critical thinking

Getting To Our Preschool

Our Alpharetta center is located at 225 Park Bridge Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30005, situated just a block north of Old Milton Parkway (SR 120) next to Alpharetta Fire Station 84. We are conveniently close to New Prospect Elementary, Creek View Elementary, and the Avalon shopping district, making morning drop-offs, elementary transitions, and daily errands quick and seamless.

Positioned moments from GA-400 (US 19) via Old Milton Pkwy, our location offers a smooth daily commute for working parents traveling toward downtown Alpharetta, the Windward business district, Roswell, or south into greater Atlanta.

Mickie Nevel

School Director

Our beautiful school opened in January of 1998 and my daughter and son were two of the very first students to walk through our doors! Fast forward to July 1998, I started working here as a Toddler Teacher, quickly moved to Assistant Director and have been the School Director for many many years. In my spare time I love to practice yoga, shop for the latest trends and spend time with my family! It has been so rewarding to stay connected with our families over the years. We have hired former students as teachers and even have our very first alumni baby enrolled at our school! Our lifelong motto of “loving to learn” is thriving in the community and it has been my honor to be a part of this journey!

Kelly Stirewalt

Assistant Director

I started at this school in February of 1999. I have been the School Age Director, Art Director, Preschool lead teacher and in 2021 became Assistant Director.

I consider myself a leader with the heart of a teacher. My hobbies and interests are spending time with friends and family, crafting, watching movies & telling jokes. I have been married to my husband since 1989 and I am proud mother of two and even prouder grandmother of 3. Every day I love to help guide and observe little minds grow and learn!

Naga Lakshmi Kakumanu

Teacher of the Year

Naga Lakshmi Kakumanu is a Preschool Lead Teacher at Cadence Academy Preschool and the recipient of the 2026 Teacher of the Year award. She began her journey in early childhood education as an Assistant Teacher in Charlotte in 2024 before joining her current location as a Lead Teacher in 2025. Naga Lakshmi has always had a deep love for working with children and feels genuinely grateful for the opportunity to guide, teach, and care for them each day. Watching her students learn, grow, and reach new milestones is one of the most rewarding parts of her work, and her passion for the children in her care is evident in everything she does.

Outside of the classroom, Naga Lakshmi enjoys watching movies, crafting, and spending quality time with her family. She has been happily married since 2014 and is a proud mother of two. She is honored to be part of the Cadence family and looks forward to continuing to grow and create meaningful memories with her little learners.

I am extremely grateful for Ms. Mickie, all of the Pre-K teachers, and the entire staff at Cadence Academy. From the very beginning, everyone has been welcoming, caring, patient, and supportive. Ms. Mickie is wonderful and always makes us feel heard and cared for. The Pre-K teachers are amazing with the children and truly put their hearts into what they do. I can see the care, patience, and effort they give every day to help the children learn, grow, and feel comfortable and safe. As a parent, it means so much to know that my child is surrounded by people who genuinely care about him. I appreciate the communication, kindness, activities, learning, and all the little things the teachers and staff do that parents may not always get a chance to say thank you for. Cadence Academy truly feels like a little family, and I am very thankful to Ms. Mickie, all of the Pre-K teachers, and the entire staff for everything you do for our children. Thank you for making such a positive difference in my child's life and for giving me peace of mind as a parent. ❤️

Cadence was our daughter’s very first school experience, and we will always be grateful for how welcoming and supportive the team was as she adjusted to such a big transition. She struggled quite a bit with separation anxiety in the beginning, and everyone was incredibly patient with her. Over time, they helped turn a child who was nervous about going to school into one who felt comfortable, safe and excited to walk through the doors each day. Ms. Mickie, the Director, is wonderful and always made us feel at ease as parents. Communication has been great throughout our time at Cadence, and we’ve always received plenty of updates about what the kids are doing and working on throughout the day. Most importantly, we always felt that our daughter was in a safe, warm and caring environment with people who genuinely cared about her. We’re very appreciative of the role Cadence played in her first experience with school and thankful to Ms. Mickie and the team for helping make that transition such a positive one for our family!
