About Cadence Academy Preschool in Newark
Cadence Academy Preschool (formerly Tender Loving Kare), Newark is an early education school which provides childcare programs for children ages infant through fourteen years. Our philosophy includes providing a nurturing environment that fosters each child’s self-identity, utilizing developmentally appropriate practices to enhance each child’s learning opportunities. Family and community are an important component at our school.
As a small preschool, families are an integral part of the program. Parents have opportunities to see their children’s teachers daily and to participate in the program as their schedules allow. This close relationship enhances each child’s personal growth and achievement and promotes a secure and safe environment. Communication between teacher and families adds to each child’s learning environment and offers support for continued success.
Our Preschool Programs
INFANT/TODDLER PROGRAM
The infant/toddler program provides a loving, nurturing environment in which children can develop at their own pace. We offer opportunities for each child to explore their environment and learn through play. Singing, finger play, story time, and art are all part of daily activities for this age group.
PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
The preschool program is a full day program that provides a curriculum that is balanced in work and play which allows for an introduction of a variety of subjects that includes group experiences, creative activities, listening and sharing stories, rest, language skills, writing skills, problem solving, independence, indoor and outdoor play, and health and safety education.
SCHOOL-AGE PROGRAM
The before and after programs offer services for several of the local schools in our area. Transportation is provided to the schools by the school district and our own transportation service. This program is a structured environment where students can work on homework, socialize, and have continued learning experiences while in a safe caring environment. This program also provides services for when children are off school due to in service days or other school holidays.
SUMMER CAMP
This program is a continuation of our school-age program. During the summer break we provide a program for children finishing Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. The children are in separate groups, based on their grade level. All groups participate in outside field trips and in-house activities which enhance learning experiences while having fun. Cadence Academy Preschool is so much more than daycare. We are proud to provide an exceptional preschool education every fun-filled day in a place as nurturing as home.
Getting To Our Preschool
Our Newark center is located at 22 Peoples Plaza, Newark, DE 19702, within the Peoples Plaza shopping center at the intersection of US-40 (Pulaski Hwy) and Route 896. We are just minutes from Glasgow Regional Park and area schools like Oberle Elementary and Caravel Academy, making morning drop-offs, school transitions, and daily shopping errands quick and simple for local families.
Positioned right at the crossroads of Route 40 and Route 896 with fast access to I-95, our center offers a smooth daily commute for parents traveling toward Newark, the University of Delaware, Christiana, Wilmington, or Elkton, Maryland.

Cadence KickStart™ Soccer is a high-energy enrichment program designed to build confidence, coordination, and teamwork through fun, age-appropriate soccer play. Led by the teachers your child already knows and trusts, it’s seamlessly built into the school day.

Megan Taylor
School Director
Megan Taylor is the Center Director at Cadence Academy Preschool, bringing over 22 years of experience in early childhood education to her role. She earned her degree in English Education with a minor in Psychology from Rutgers University and has spent the majority of her career in Center Director roles, developing a deep expertise in building strong teams, supporting families, and creating environments where children thrive.
Megan is passionate about making a lasting impact during the most important years of a child’s life and finds great fulfillment in watching children grow, gain confidence, and discover who they are. She believes strong relationships are the foundation of a successful center and is committed to open communication, teamwork, and trust with both families and staff. She is excited to bring her passion for early childhood education to the Cadence Academy community and looks forward to getting to know every family and colleague along the way. Outside of work, Megan loves spending quality time with her husband and son, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, and making the most of summer with beach trips to Ocean City, NJ. She also enjoys decorating, listening to music, and exploring new restaurants and experiences with her husband.
GinaTay Holden
Curriculum Coordinator
GinaTay Holden is the Curriculum Coordinator at Cadence Academy Preschool, bringing over a decade of experience in early childhood education to her role. She began her ECE journey in 2014 as a floater and steadily grew through many roles into administration. GinaTay earned her Associate Degree in the Arts of Teaching from Delaware Technical Community College in 2015 and spent five years in Special Education, an experience that she holds close to her heart and that continues to shape her approach to supporting children and educators today.
GinaTay is passionate about creating fun, high-quality curriculum for children of all ages and empowering teachers to build classrooms where children can learn, explore, and thrive. Outside of work, she is a proud mom of two who loves spending time with her family at the park, cheering on the Sixers and Eagles, and enjoying shopping trips with her daughter — Starbucks in hand, of course. She is also a devoted Grey’s Anatomy fan and can recite just about every episode of Friends by heart.
Ms. Joyce
Teacher of the Year
My name is Ms. Joyce. I have been a teacher at Cadence Academy Preschool since 2002 working in the 3 year old and 4 year old classroom and TLK Academy. I have my Delaware DOE Teacher certification and I am continuing to work towards my degree in ECE. I have 4 boys, a Baltimore Ravens fan and enjoy working with young children.
