About Cadence Academy Preschool in Millsboro, DE
Cadence Academy Preschool (formerly GiggleBugs) is a learning center striving to help children reach developmental milestones and specific goals & objectives through developmentally appropriate activities and through play in intentionally designed learning centers. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment in which children can explore and learn. Our goal is to foster development of the whole child…cognitive development, physical development, social & emotional development, & language development.
Cadence Academy Preschool offers hands-on, active exploration, small group instruction, and positive interaction with highly qualified teachers.

Curriculum & Assessment
We believe that every child is unique and will grow & learn at his or her own pace. Using a research based curriculum, children follow a daily schedule and take part in developmentally appropriate activities during whole & small group time and will discover and learn while “playing” in intentionally designed learning centers in the classroom. Children are assessed on specific cognitive, social/emotional, physical, and language goals of the curriculum, and progress reports are provided quarterly. Parent Teacher conferences are offered twice each school year, once in the fall and once in the Spring.

Brittany Zimmermann
School Director
My journey in early childhood education began in 2008 when I stepped in to help run my mother’s home daycare while she attended to health matters. At the time, I was studying nursing at Salisbury University, but I quickly discovered how much I loved working with young children. I love the impact that early childhood education has on a child’s development. We have the incredible opportunity to help shape and mold children during their most formative years. It’s not just about academics, we support their whole development: socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Watching children grow during their time with us is such a privilege. In my free time, I love spending quality time with the people who mean the most to me—especially my husband and children. It fills my heart and helps me recharge in the best way. When I have downtime, I love crafting and reading!

I began my career in education 21 years ago as a Youth Development Professional at a local Boys and Girls Club. Later, I worked as an assistant teacher at the Child Development Center at Delaware Technical & Community College. I joined Cadence Academy in 2016 as the Lead Pre- K Teacher, then served as Curriculum Coordinator before stepping into the role of Director. Early childhood education inspires me because it’s a time of incredible discovery and growth. I’m passionate about fostering curiosity, encouraging exploration, and supporting children as they develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed both in school and in life. Outside of work, I find joy in spending quality time and making lasting memories with my husband and two children. I enjoy crafting and spending weekends camping with my family.

Teacher of the Year
I started working at Cadence in 2021, initially as a floater. Over time, I gained experience and took on more responsibilities, eventually becoming an assistant teacher. Along the way I’ve continued to grow professionally through training and hands-on experience. I am currently attending Delaware Technical Community College for Education. It has been incredibly rewarding to see how much of a difference we can make in a child’s early years. I am passionate about working with children and I am dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and fun learning environment. In my free time, I enjoy reading and crafts. I also like spending time with family and friends, and I am always open to learning something new or being creative.
