Located at 28th St and Osborn in Phoenix, AZ, Little Big Minds Spanish Immersion Preschool at Kennedy is proud to continue the legacy of our flagship campus. Founded in 2010, our journey began at the Biltmore campus, where we built deep community connections. Thanks to the unwavering support of our families, we’ve expanded to this beautiful, spacious campus to better serve our growing community.

Our immersive Spanish-language curriculum combines active and quiet learning, group activities, and indoor and outdoor play. We believe life experiences are the foundation of all learning. Discovery Centers: Learning Through Play
Our thoughtfully designed classrooms feature intentional learning spaces, or “Discovery Centers,” which inspire curiosity and creativity:
- Literacy/Library: Fostering early language development with books, writing tools, and magazines.
- Math & Science/Manipulatives: Encouraging exploration, counting, grouping, and sorting.
- Mini Art Studio/Arts: Inspiring creativity through clay, paint, wire, and other artistic mediums.
- Sensory/Light Tables: Awakening the senses with tactile and exploratory experiences.
- Home Living/Dramatic Play: Sparking imagination and role-playing for social and language development.
- Blocks: Building with blocks and materials to stimulate intellectual and social-emotional growth.
- Gathering Time/Nest Time: Sharing stories, reviewing academic content, and celebrating values.
- Cozy Area: Offering a quiet space for self-reflection and independent thought.
Outdoor Environment & Playground
Our outdoor spaces extend learning beyond the classroom. Children can ride tricycles, explore the garden, play with water tables, and climb or slide on engaging playground equipment. Each day balances guided activities with free play, ensuring a well-rounded and joyful experience.

Karen Rivas-Castro
Campus Director
Karen Castro serves as the Campus Director at Little Big Minds, bringing over a decade of experience and a genuine love for early childhood education. Since joining in 2015, she has taught children of all ages, building strong connections and a deep understanding of how young learners grow and thrive. Her leadership is rooted in creating a warm, welcoming environment where every child feels valued and supported.
Originally from Sonora, Mexico, Karen is passionate about sharing her culture and native Spanish language, inspiring children to be confident, curious, and kind. She treasures the relationships she builds with families and staff and believes learning should be filled with joy and discovery. Outside of school, she enjoys going to the movies, road trips to visit family in Mexico, and watching the sunrise.
Ibis Antelo
Assistant Director
Ibis Antelo is the Assistant Director at Little Big Minds – Kennedy Campus, bringing dedication, empathy, and a passion for early childhood education. LBM is her first role in the field, and it has quickly become a place where she thrives, connecting deeply with children, families, and colleagues.
As a parent, Ibis understands the importance of a safe, caring, and nurturing environment, and she works to ensure every family feels confident and supported. She values being a resource for both families and her team, encouraging growth and collaboration. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her children, who inspire and deepen her love for the work she does every day.
